I was just curious if anybody has booked through Southwest Airlines for their Disney Package? I priced out our vacation package (same arrival/departure day and same hotel) and it came out to be several hundred $$ cheaper through SW. I think mainly because of the flight prices may have been the most difference, it seems that WDW uses mostly Airtran.

Just curious as to your thoughts and experiences?

We actually booked our last vacation through Southwest, and it was great!! It did come out to be much cheaper, I think because the flight does get discounted quite a bit. And, if there are promotions going on (i.e. Free Dining) SW honors those too. The only thing you don't get by booking through SW are those little extra vouchers (like for the resort arcade, mini-golf, etc...) that you would get through Disney Travel Company. Hope that helps!!!

Thank you soo much for the info, I appreciate it!

Southwest Vacations is currently having a 48-hour Flash Deal with up to $40 off WDW tickets in your package, ends 8/3.

Yes, their package flight prices are a different pricing structure, often a good savings when you compare the total package price.

yes, I did see that price reduction in the package I priced out!

Hmm...it's interesting that that special ends on 8/3...wonder if that's because they'll be offering a new free dining promo???? Fingers crosssed!!!!:goodvibes

I have used the Southwest vacation packages to Disney, as well as other locations. It has always been great. A couple of helpful hints though --- the package confirmation number is not the number that you need for the 24 hours in advance online check-in for the plane. You also get paper tickets for the plane - not a problem, but does add an extra step at the airport.

Good news for SWV! No more paper airlines tickets, it's all electronic now. This just recently changed.

The "flash deals" are usually 48 hour ones to various locations, not just WDW. The $40 off a WDW ticket promotion was offered for few weeks last month too.

Shortly after final payment your E-docs are issued. These will have the actual Disney resort confo # that your need for ADR's, or I suppose you could call them after deposit to see if they can look it up.

I actually looked at booking through them again for our Feb 2012 trip, however, the discount wasn't as good as the 35% military room discount...one thing about SW too...try to get your flight booked as soon as the dates open up!!!! They always have their best rates when they first come out and go up steadily after that...I booked our 2012 flights on 7/26 for $1192 (for 4 of us) and those exact flights are now $1924!!!! :scared1:
SW is kind of funny like that!
