Do you own a memory foam mattress and love it? I would love to hear the brand, price you paid and if you love/hate it. We are in the market for a new mattress & box spring and are trying to do research.

Thanks!

We just recently purchased a 12" queen Serta and love it! We actually bought it from our local Menards as we were able to get the best price for the kind we wanted there. We paid $479 for it, but they had others there for cheaper there as well. It was weird to get used to at first, but it has helped us SO much with our back and neck issues! We also splurged and bought serta memory foam pillows and think they are the best thing in the world!

Thank you! I have been using a memory foam pillow for a few years now which makes me think I would love the mattress. Do you find the mattress hot?

we have a tempurpedic and love it...we bought a different brand of memory foam mattress for our kids beds and they aren't as comfy as the tempurpedic brand. i would say spend as much time testing them out in the showroom as necessary to feel comfortable with the purchase. also, make sure you purchase from a store that offers a customer friendly return policy.

Can anyone tell me what they are using for the foundation? Is it a box spring or what?

I just went through the same process - my not so old mattress was causing me issues about a year ago and I put a 3 inch memory foam topper on it then, it worked for a while but the issues (aches and pains) returned - but it gave me a good feel for if I would like a memory foam mattress. I did my research, and went with the ComforPedic Advanced Rest Luxury Firm about 5 months ago (Paid @ 1500 total - with tax and low profile box). Have been sleeping great ever since. The mattress did emit a low level smell as alot of people warn you - but it went away shortly. As far as heat - I'm a warm sleeper anyway (have the temp at 62 and a fan blowing on me in winter) - my opinion is that it is warmer than a normal mattress but not anything that affects my sleeping.

We have a Tempurpedic. DH thinks it's fantastic. We got it because he kept having sciatic nerve trouble. He hasn't had any since, and it's been a couple of years. I am usually comfortable in it, not always. It's usually VERY comfy at 6:30 am :) Occasionally I feel hot in it, mainly in the winter, not really a problem- if it feels hot, I just shift position to a cool spot.

We should have gotten the low profile box to go under it- didn't give it any thought when buying, but the boxes don't have any give in them, and it wouldn't go up our stairs. We had to go through our upstairs window using the tractor and loader. It would have gone upstairs if it had been just a little thinner.

We just bought a memory foam mattress and box spring for my DS -- $199 each piece, plus tax. It was from a mattress store.

The thing we learned by mattress shopping was that it's like going through a used car lot. The tags are not the actual prices, even the "sale" tags. We were ready to purchase the set for $499, when I asked the salesman if that was the final price. Lo and behold, they have a "special" deal for $199 per piece, any size.

We have had it about 2 years and it is great!!! I can't remember if it's a Simmons or a Serta. Cost about $1400 but worth every penny. Aches and pains are gone!!! Best investment!!!

I got a Tempurpedic about 7 years ago. It is hard, but I have not been hot sleeping in it. We got the box spring (2 piece) for King size from the same company. My wife hates it. She wakes up with aches. I only notice that if I sleep funny. I move a lot though, so maybe I don't get that issue because I shift frequently. I think I paid about $1400 for the whole package. It has been what I will consider OK. I wouldn't buy another. The one big positive is that no dust mites can live in the foam, so that make me feel better. Other than that, I haven't been super impressed, and I wasn't magically rejuvenated because I was all of the sudden sleeping so much better like the commercials show. I am going to look into the air number next time I buy a mattress I think.

As an aside, I did buy my daughter a cheap foam mattress at a furniture store. Her's is actually more comfortable than the name brand. I slept on it one night because the kids and wife took over the bedroom. I actually had a good sleep on that one. I only paid about $400 for both pieces (smaller bed).

My daughter uses a memory foam mattress toppers and is happy with it. She says it is a little warm (she runs on the hot side anyway). I did notice recently they have ones that are supposed to be cooler now. I saw them at BJ's.

My husband and I just bought a Serta iComfort with the cooling gel stuff. We LOVE it. My best advice is to go to the mattress store and spend a lot of time trying the different ones. I went into the store planning to buy a Tempurpedic but found I liked the Serta mattress better. Our total was just under $2,000, as I recall.

I call my mattress my marshmallow bed. I truly believe it's one of the best things I've ever purchased. I go to sleep quickly, sleep well and wake up feeling refreshed -- no more aches!

Thank you! Do you know what model of the iComfort you got?

We just got the iComfort Savant last month for $1800 and the adjustable base for another $1700 or so. If we wanted the normal base, I think it was included for free (special at the time). It cannot sit on a normal bed frame. Its been great so far and I do not get hot like I was afraid I would. All the stores and online were the same price, so Serta must control their prices.

ETA: there were about 5 different icomforts at the store. The salesman did not recommend the most expensive one, but I don't remember why. We tried all the others and the savant was an obvious choice. He also said its the most popular.

I also have an iComfort by Serta (I bought it a year ago, so remember which one). I love it. I also bought the motion adjustable base which I love, but I'd love the matress with or without the motion base.

We have the iComfort as well. We love it. I don't remember which model but I want to say it started with a R. Reflection maybe? It was one of the softer models. It cost about $2,000 including the base. We are hot sleepers and we haven't had an issue at all.

I sell mattresses for a living most memory foam mattresses don't make you hotter when sleeping on them.....and the more memory foam there is the more expensive it is.....which will also last longer for you and won't need replacing as often as some of the cheaper versions... I have a tempur-pedic and love it and my 3 kids have a lesser brand name and while its comfy its not the same

In anticipation of my DH's back surgery and bc we really needed a new mattress, we went with a memory foam. At the time there were some recommendations here for www.bedinabox.com. Because DH couldn't do any lifting, and we have a stairwell issue I purchased from them. The whole mattress came delivered in a box by UPS. My kids carried it up the stairs and we "inflated" the mattress in one day. It was so easy (and fun),so far it's been great. We've had it about 2yrs. DH loves it.

I have an iComfort Revolution that I got for about $1700 (full size). I think they renamed the Revolution model in the last year. I love it.

I will say one thing that some may consider a bit off-color... If you're a pooh-sized person, and you share a bed with another pooh-sized person, engaging in certain adult activities requires a bit of extra effort because of the way you sink into the mattress a bit.

I have a tempur-pedic that I just got 3 months ago and I love it, I have a bad back and the spring mattress I had before wasn't doing it much good. it took me a couple weeks to get used to it and the pillows [they are way different from reg. pillows] but they and the bed are comfy, I can sleep like a baby.
