Anybody NOT like POFQ?

I can't say I'm a big fan of POFQ. After trying this resort, I can truly say I'm a deluxe fan. I missed everything I've come to love about the deluxes. Larger beds, interior hallways and sit sown restaurants.

Isn't that sort of like comparing apples to oranges then?

The only hesitation I have about about our upcoming trip in April to POFQ is the comments I read on here about the dinginess and overall staleness of the resort. Is that really that accurate? We have stayed at the values previously and were happy. Is there any way then, that we could not be happy with POFQ (barring a unseen fiasco)?

It's my favorite resort. I don't need a TS at my resort, I have so many favorites now trying to squeeze in another would be very difficult. I've only used the food court once and had no problem at all, but then it was 3pm. I've stayed at Pop, hated it. I need a hot tub for my back and feet. I also require at fridge since we eat breakfast in the room.

The shared buses aren't that big of a deal to me either. The other mods have 4 or 7 bus stops, PO has 5. It does have its own bus stop at MK in the evening. More often than not the MK bus in the morning will not stop at POR since it usually fills up at POFQ. That said you are first one and off for the parks. Meaning you will have a seat to sit on going, you may have to stand coming back but not for long.

Both PO's have a boat to DTD, it wonderful. I think the reason I love POFQ is it makes me go a slower pace while I'm at my resort so I can go full force in the parks.

Next week will be our 10th stay in a row at POFQ. We have stayed at all of the Moderate Resorts and many of the Deluxe Resorts including the S/D, but we just keep coming back to the FQ's...Just can't get enough of this Resort. I guess it makes us feel Comfortable and Relaxed..

It amazes me that no one, or at least I haven't read, has mentioned the two main reasons POFQ is by far the best mod. in Disney. 1. small size 2. 15min. relaxing boat ride to DTD. Remember POFQ is the little sister resort of POR. If you want a large gift shop? and sit down Restaurant? you can take a very comfortable and pleasant 5min. boat ride to POR. Besides, the gift shop is only good for emergency stuff you left and for lower price food items you can keep in your room fridge, milk, water, OJ, BEER, and the sit down is basically for folks that forgot to make advanced dining reservations. With all of the souvenir shops and great restaurants in Disney why would you spend $$$ at the resorts?

I find this thread VERY interesting... and in all honesty makes me feel like switching from BC to POFQ was a GOOD :cheer2: ONE....

The complaints are interesting: 1- No sit down resturant... OK... well there are so many places to eat at WDW who needs one right at there hotel really and with DTD a boat ride away... and Every other park a Bus ride away... or heck call a cab (which we are planning on doing to get to some of our ADRs at other resorts) I dont see the problem.... plus there is a food court so if you get so hungry you cant stand to wait there is a place to get something to eat... 2- Small Size - To me that cant be more then a PLUS!!! 3- Busses - Correct me if I am wrong but dont MOST of the resorts share bus stops?? I guess I dont really see a problem with this... if you plan accordingly you will make it to your destiation... and it will get you there... its WDW its going to be busy... if you dont like that rent a car or call a cab... 4- Gift Shop - OK this just sounds dumb to me... arent there like 800,000 other places in WDW to BUY stuff... LOL... yes I am being silly :rotfl: but seriously - I think there are like a ton of places I will be looking for things that at my hotel anyways... and with DTD a short boat ride away you really have all of those shops as hotel gift shops... :) cant beat that... :woohoo: 5- Mousekeeping - ok seriously this happens EVERYWHERE.... a few questions for those complaining of this... have you had problems with this elsewhere - I think I have honestly read a post on DIS BOARDS mentioning bad mousekeeping at EVERY resort from Value to Dulx's --- bring it up to the CMs and I am sure it will be taken care off...

OK NOW I will admit I have NOT stayed here - but we are going to... and I am looking forward to the quiet and the relaxing atmosphere I feel is going to accompany my stay at POFQ... to each there own... remember there is something in life for everyone... I will certianly be reporting back on my expereinces!!!!! :scared1:

Try it and let us know. When I stayed there the queue was a nightmare. Waiting on 5 or more buses is not fun with tired kids.

Off the top of my head, CSR, CBR, and AK do not share buses with anyone else.

Curious what time of year were you there? Was this All the time or only at peak travel times (ie at park closing)

We just got back from a 7 night stay at FQ--building 6. We were there from 1/26 thru 2/2--LOVED IT!! We loved the boat to DTD. we loved the small playground that stayed reasonable. we loved the pool (for two days until it closed :guilty: ) We loved seeing the sun rising over the river across the green in front of our room. The size was reasonable for us with an almost 4 year old--no long walks to or from anything...

Our mousekeeper was great--DD had towel animals 5 out of 7 nights--and the nights she didn't, MK rearranged her stuffed animals and the towel animals in different fun places (stuffed monkey hanging from the over bed lights one night, then hanging from a possum towel animal the next!) The room was clean and stayed that way.

The food court was confusing the first time we went, and then was fine. No problems with customer service at all. The food was okay, but consistant with all the counter food--just okay.

Buses--first stop is always FQ, coming and going. We NEVER waited for a second bus either coming or going. We made it to our 8am ADRs with no problem. the only time it was icky was when a HUGE crowd got on at the last POR depot--don't know why they were allowed on, as there were no seats and this was a high school group from Brazil with about 20-25 kids!!

The concierge was great--made us all kinds of last minute reservations.

Every time we were going through POR we remarked how thankful we were to be staying in a smaller resort.
So, I guess there is a resort for everyone. I'm definitely going back to this one next year!:yay:

Yes, our trip was during the summer. The busiest, longest queues did occur at night leaving the parks but it was not limited to that time. POFQ/POR split the MK buses at night but not the rest of the parks. The main issue was having two young kids and strollers. When you're packed in like sardines, it makes for a rough ride, especially if you have to stand.

I've stayed at all levels of resorts at WDW, honestly the deluxes (never stayed at AKL so this does not apply to it) was the worst. Both the MK and Epcpot resorts share buses. When you are paying that much to stay at a deluxe 3 or 4 resorts sharing buses is awful at best.

While CSR and CBR have their own buses, there are 4 bus stops at CSR and 7 at CBR. Also, there is no such thing as a non existant line at any of the bus stops at park closing. As for tired kids and strollers, there is no solution to that problem other than time. Each resort bus requires you to remove the child from the stroller. So buses would be an issue at no matter what resort you stay at.

I disagree. When we stayed at CSR, we left MK and MGM and were the only ones on the bus (at closing). And at Epcot, we were only a handful. The buses at CSR are quicker doing the 4 stops than they are doing the 5 stops at POR/POFQ.

That was certainly not my experience at CSR. But keep in mind, at POFQ you only do one stop coming back and going you always get a seat because you are first on the bus, if it stops at POR at all. Keep in mind that is not an 'always' situation, especially in the morning.

I felt like it looked like cheap Southern apartment buildings.... (I live here, I know what they look like)

So.... I will stay there, but it did not surpass my first choice in mods (CBR)

We just returned from POFQ last night and I have to say that it was our favorite resort so far! I have only stayed at POFQ, POR, and the Dolphin and have enjoyed all of them. Bussing was really not an issue - we did have to stand on Friday night when we were returning from the MK but MK was PACKED on Friday. We did not find anything "tired" or dingy at all! The staff were all very friendly. Our mousekeeper, Fanny, was excellent - our rooms [there were 6 of us so we had 2 rooms] were always clean and we received 3 towel animals. Food court was fine - cheesesteak sandwich was yummy - didn't really see what all the fuss was about beignets though! All in all we had a great stay and would definitely return!:thumbsup2

I don't think that the people who like POFQ need to be offended by this thread. The OP just wanted some opinions of what people didn't like about this resort.

While some people find the boat ride to DTD enjoyable, we found it hot & loud. My DH & I couldn't even hear each other talk.

While some people like the smallness of the resort, others might find it boring.

While some people have nice clean rooms, others find them dark & dirty.

The buses, well I think that's just up to luck! While we never had to wait on a bus for very long, I will say this -it takes longer for their buses to make the 1 stop at POFQ & then the 4 stops at POR than it takes the CBR buses to make all their stops.

The food court, honestly I have never met ruder people at Disney. :confused3

Everybody has their own opinion! :goodvibes

Didn't POFQ used to be the original Value resort before all the All Stars starting poppin up? I can vaguley remember paying around $50 a night for a room there.

I just can't picture this resort being classified as a moderate regradless of the changes it may have recieved over the years.

:rolleyes1 popcorn:: That's something I've never heard before.

If it is so bad, Why is POFQ ranked much higher on Trip Adviser than
the other MODS and some of the Deluxes?

POFQ--#37
POR--#42
CBR--#65
CSR--#93
