Anybody NOT like Hilton Head?

I am a DVC member and my home resort is HH... My hubby surprised me and happen to buy there. (He did buy sight unseen). We went last year at the end of May and I really enjoyed it there. I am not the expert when it comes to DVC but I did enjoy it there and I do think HH itself is beautiful. There may not be any restaurants right on property but it is a short walk to the marina area where there are shops and restaurants. I agree then downfall is not having the beach right there but hey - nothing is actually perfect. Also - it is not WDW.... there are no themeparks, etc.
I know most people want DVC for WDW but I would say to give it a shot.

a terrible place. Don't go there, especially in the summer. If you are foolish enough to go there, fly in because it is very convenient to get around on the island without a car. Like most places off of the beaten path, the airlines do a great job getting folks in and out of the place. The beach is over a whole mile away from the resort. The private pool and beach house are highly over-rated as is the entire resort itself. The castmembers treat you too nice...I think that they are up to something. And another thing, if you go there you are going to have all this extra money that you are going to have to come up with ways to spend because you didn't have to buy WDW park passes. As we all know, coming up with ways to spend "extra" cash is a real pain. I just wish that they would put a sign out front of the resort just telling folks to stay away. It is really is a bad place.

Certainly the restaurants at Shelter Cove are convenient. I'd say worst case scenario is 200 yards, maybe a little further if your rooms is one of the farthrest ones and you go to the Harbormaster. Definitely closer than most rooms at OKW and not really any more than at BW in any room. Still easy to drive anywhere if you want, though traffic and rush hour can be a problem.
