Anybody know of a good remedy for a sinus headache?

Definitely agree. If you are in pain, turn off that computer and go rest.
This is probably the best idea. I know you have kids at home (or maybe one of them is in school?), but maybe they will be happy to watch a video for a while so you can rest.

I have had sinus headaches as long as I could remember and the best remedy I have found is Aleve Sinus and Headache. Two of those little babies works better for me than anything else I have ever tried. If they ever stop working I may have to resort to the potatoes, but until then I will stick with Aleve.

Silver lily....way OT here, but where did you get your avatar? I love it. :)

Thanks, CRB. Last year someone posted about having some cool LOTR smilies and sent them to me by e-mail. You can right click on my avatar and save it to your computer, I believe. It is definitely cute!

My daughter is at school and son is at daycare. I took the Motrin, ate something, and drank a cup of hot chocolate and the combo did the trick :) I'm watching The Thorn Birds but I took a short break from it to let you guys know that I'm doing better now.

I get several sinus headaches a week and have gotten them for years. The best things to do are: step away from the computer and tv and get some fresh air, take a hot shower or use a humidifier, and some advil sinus with a diet coke.

We have one of those blue ice pack things that go in the freezer....the best thing that I've done is get a cool rag and wrap it around the blue thingy and put it on the back of my next and lay down and rest. The cold always seems to do the trick.

You should still spend time away from the computer and tv. It's going to cause the headaches to come back.

Becky, I'm glad you are feeling better but I have to ask..

Where were you that it rained? It didn't rain yesterday!?

Did I miss a major part of the day?

If it was raining, wouldn't you have tried to run out of the rain when you went to 7-11??

Lauri, I was down by the Coliseum and it did rain there at approximately 3 PM.

If you've got the stuffy nose and the headaches, you may have a sinus infection. Been dealing with this for 4 days, finally got myself to Patient First yesterday and yep, that's what I have. Dr. gave me a prescription for Amoxicillin and told me to continue taking Excedrin for migraines.

BTW...hello all you fellow Richmonders!!!!!:wave2:

I can't take a lot of the oral sinus meds because of a heart condition. A few months ago the doctor put me on a medication (prescription) called Nasonex. I can't begin to tell you what a difference this has made. I haven't had a sinus headache since I started taking it. It's a nasal spray. I only use it once a day.

Ask your doctor about it and see if it's right for you. I've been plagued with sinus headaches my whole life and now that they're gone, I don't miss them at all! :p

Ditto....almost. I used to get sinus infections with the attendant headaches 4-5 times per year. One doc finally put me on a nasal spray and as long as I keep up with it, I don't get sick anymore. Mine is Nasacort AQ. Switched to Nasonex when changed clinics (didn't have Nasacort) but it didnt work. Same for Flonase. Now pay a higher co-pay to get the NasacortAQ. It's worth it not to get sick all the time!!

I would assume that if I woke up with another one (not as bad as yesterday's) this morning, the likelihood that I have a sinus infection just went up :( Unfortunately, I can't do the stay away from computers, etc. today since I have school.

Please put us all out of our misery and go to the ER already

Complaining about it on an Internet BB isn't going to make it get better.

If you think you have an infection, go to a walk-in Emergency place. I'm sure you can fit it in with your school day, although you might need to give up an hour of Internet posting to do so.

If you don't think you need medical treatment, take some Advil for the headache, and some decongestant for the sinus problem, and get on with your life.

Weather changes can bring on sinus headaches. Looks like you have snow headed your way.

Can't you go to the student health center at the college?
