So I'm a teacher and soon it's my class' turn to host our weekly assembly! Eeeek! :scared1:

Our whole school has been having swimming lessons lately, so I thought it might be fun to base our assembly on swimming. Maybe we could sing a fun song about swimming!

But... I can't think of any songs about swimming that kids could sing! The only one I can think of is Dory's "Just Keep Swimming" from Finding Nemo, but that's not even really a song! :lmao:

So does anybody have any good swimming song suggestions we could use in our assembly!? Disney or otherwise?!

Thanks everybody in advance!! :yay:

there's a realy old one i remember from when i was little that went something like-

down in the middle of an itty, bittie pool swam 3 little fishies and the momma fishie too, swim said the momma fishie swim if you can and they swam and they swam right over the dam. boop-boop-didum-daddy-waddum-poo (repeat 2 more times)...and they swam and they swam right over the dam.

what grades are you talking about? if it's a younger group that's going to sing i think the wiggles had some kind of song about swimming like a fish they could probably learn by listening over and over to a cd.

How about Dory's Song from "Finding Nemo"?

"Just keep swimming, just keep swimming..."

I think that might be all there is to it, but it is cute.

agnes!

Actually, there is a real song "Just Keep Swimming" from "Finding Nemo, the Musical." If you do a search on youtube, you should be able to find it.

Wow, you guys are awesome! So speedy with your replies, thank you!! :woohoo:

I teach Grade 2/3 - which is 8 and 9 year olds. It's a bit tricky trying to find something they don't think is "baby music"! Auh!

I'm thinking now the song might not even have to be about swimming, as long as it had a summery, beachy vibe. Which made me think about "Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride" from Lilo and Stitch. That could be fun to dance to!!?

Hmmm, I need to do some more thinking! :teacher:

Thanks again everybody!!

Not tech. a "swimming song" but one that could possibly work...

Steve Curtis Chapman "Dive"

The long awaited rains
Have fallen hard upon the thirsty ground
And carved their way to where
The wild and rushing river can be found
And like the rain
I have been carried here to where the river flows, yeah
My heart is racing and my knees are weak
As I walk to the edge
I know there is no turning back
Once my feet have left the ledge
And in the rush I hear a voice
That's telling me it's time to take the leap of faith
So here I go

I'm diving in, I'm going deep, in over my head I want to be
Caught in the rush, lost in the flow, in over my head I want togo
The river's deep, the river's wide, the river's water is alive
So sink or swim, I'm diving in

There is a supernatural power
In this mighty river's flow
It can bring the dead to life
And it can fill an empty soul
And give a heart the only thing
Worth living and worth dting for, yeah
But we will never know the awesome power
Of the grace of God
Until we let our selves get swept away
Into this holy flood
So if you'll take my hand
We'll close our eyes and count to three
And take the leap of faith
Come on let's go

Another my kids liked when little...

(Tune: Battle Hymn)

She waded in the water and she got her feet all wet,
She waded in the water and she got her feet all wet,
She waded in the water and she got her feet all wet,

Chorus:
But she didn't get her (clap, clap) wet, (clap) yet. (clap)
Glory, Glory, Hallelujah!
Glory, Glory, Hallelujah!
Glory, Glory, Hallelujah!
But she didn't ger her (clap, clap) wet, (clap) yet. (clap)

She waded in the water and she got her ankles wet
She waded in the water and she got her ankles wet
She waded in the water and she got her ankles wet

Chorus

She waded in the water and she got her knees all wet
She waded in the water and she got her knees all wet
She waded in the water and she got her knees all wet

Chorus

She waded in the water and she got her thighs all wet
She waded in the water and she got her thighs all wet
She waded in the water and she got her thighs all wet

Chorus

She waded in the water and she finally got it wet
She waded in the water and she finally got it wet
She waded in the water and she finally got it wet
She finally got her bathing suit wet!

Glory, Glory, Hallelujah!
Glory, Glory, Hallelujah!
Glory, Glory, Hallelujah!
She finally got her bathing suit wet!

Here are all the lyrics for Three Little Fishes. Perfect for that age.

Three Little Fishies (Itty Bitty Pool)
Kay Kyser (#1 in 1939)
- words and music by Saxie Dowell

Down in the meadow in a little bitty pool
Swam three little fishies and a mama fishie too
"Swim" said the mama fishie, "Swim if you can"
And they swam and they swam all over the dam
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
And they swam and they swam all over the dam

"Stop" said the mama fishie, "or you will get lost"
The three little fishies didn't wanna be bossed
The three little fishies went off on a spree
And they swam and they swam right out to the sea
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
And they swam and they swam right out to the sea

"Whee!" yelled the little fishies, "Here's a lot of fun
We'll swim in the sea till the day is done"
They swam and they swam, and it was a lark
Till all of a sudden they saw a shark!
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
Till all of a sudden they saw a shark!

"Help!" cried the little fishies, "Gee! look at all the whales!"
And quick as they could, they turned on their tails
And back to the pool in the meadow they swam
And they swam and they swam back over the dam
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
And they swam and they swam back over the dam

Maybe Twistin by the Pool by Dire Straights?

Or alter Splish Spalsh I was Takin' a Bath?

Under the Sea?

Octopuses Garden by the Beatles? I remember singing this in 2nd grade for a choir performance

Surfin' USA by the Beach Boys

Candle on the Water

Hi Agnes,
A CD was produced and I've seen it available at the cart outside the theatre that you pass as you exit the show. I just was listening to one of the songs on my IPod. :)

I was thinking Yellow Submarine.....or something by the beach boys, but really most kids love Yellow Submarine.
