We are looking to use Stampcrete to do a concrete patio around our pool. I was wondering if anybody here has done that, what your experience has been if you have any pictures PLEASE let me see them etc.
We're investing a huge amount of money into this and I am having a terrible time making up my mind with colors and whatnot. There's not a lot of examples on their webpage so I am getting confused. They have colors, they have examples of some of the stamps but you cant see what color combo made up that patio etc.
Timely thread! We are having stamped concrete applied on Monday on top of our concrete decking around our pool. We love the look of the stamped concrete, but now this thread is making me nervous.

Our top priorities were something NOT slippery when wet and something that wasn't too hot to walk on. The company we chose to do the work says the stamped concrete will be cooler to walk on than plain concrete and is not slippery.
They install a lot of stamped concrete around pools, and the first picture on their brochure shows stamped concrete around a pool. I just don't understand why they (any company) says it isn't slippery if it truly is?!?!??!? Wouldn't people not install it around pool areas?!?!? I'm starting to second guess our choice now!

It is an expensive decking option and we've already paid half of the cost, with the rest due after installation.
As far as the choices/colors, a company employee came out to our house and we spent time comparing tiles beside the pool. It will be a two day job, Monday and Tuesday. We also need to be here because they'll mix the color and we can see it before it's applied to the deck. He said they can mix it to go lighter or darker, depending on how we want it to look. The idea is to match it (or contrast it) to our patio pavers and decorative rock.
I'll let you know how everything goes! Fingers crossed!
...I was ok with regular old concrete but he absolutely despises the way that looks and he won't even let me price pavers as we're way over budget to begin with.
Funny about the regular concrete decking. We had regular concrete around our in-ground pool in Maine and I loved it. However, the concrete decking around our pool here in Arizona is not very attractive. It's verk stark and plain looking. I think the difference is that in Maine, we had the concrete decking, then a couple of feet of crushed rock, then everything outside the fence was beautiful, green grass. Here in our backyard, we have mostly pavers and rock, so the concrete decking really looks plain. We need something with color!
We have it for our patio and around the pool. I LOVE the look of it but I will say its very slippery when wet. Mine has faded and could used to be re colored (not terribly) however I don't feel like yelling " don't run around the pool" all summer long
This is exactly what I'm afraid of now! I can hear myself for the next six months..."NO running around the pool!" We have very young grandkids that visit a lot and of course, kids are going to run. Although, they know they aren't supposed to run in the pool area!
