Have never waitlisted before for up to 7 days but are now for Oct. Have backup plan (go to Vero) but just curious if there is a MAGIC # of days that folks have had a waitlist come thru at under 30 days???

Thanks.

yes, we had a waitlist for BLT 7 days out. we waitlisted the 2nd night & 5th night. we did not want to do a split stay and one night came through about two weeks before arrival. the other did not. so i called once we got to the 7 day mark. i did not want to move. REALLY. we were just got finished with rope drop at magic kingdom & called ms to see if that 5th night was available. It WAS. :woohoo: that night i just stopped at the desk at BLT & they confirmed I was ALL SET!!!

Now, keep in mind, someone's points went into holding, but we did get our waitlist less than a week out. :cool1:

Our home is VGC. We added points two months before our vacation and then tried to get two extra studio days added. Waitlisted those days and they came through the week before we left.

Once about a week out i got an akl studio. I had made an ap room only res at pop and kept calling (pre-online). Boy did i feel lucky when i got the all room.

31 days is usually the meaningful number because cancellations after that result in the points going into holding. 30 days and under you're relying on some calamity befalling another member which leads to a trip being cancelled.

Best advice I can offer is to make sure you're waitlisted for SSR and OKW (prob non-Hospitality House.) Those are the two with the greatest chance for success.

Good luck.

Yes. As a late booker I often don't even try booking much in advance. Be as flexible as possible on resorts and room size

Oh...you are all giving me hope! I called at noon on the day our 7-month window opened and, wouldn't you know it? I had to waitlist for Easter Sunday in a 2BR at HHI:headache: We only had enough HHI points to book Mo-Th on points so I made a cash reservation for Easter with the hope that I could use my AKV points and switch it at the 7-month window. Ugh! I really hope that WL comes through because the cash rate is about $500...compared to only 25 points. Fortunately, we do have the room, but it is going to be quite expensive if we have to use cash.

pixiedust: wishing pixiedust that your waitlist comes through. let us know!!!

Multiple times DW and I have been at DTD for the day, decided we wanted to stay the night, called the resort directly (back before MS was open late or on Sundays), and checked in within 15 minutes. A lot depends on the resort you want to stay at and the time of year.

While this doesn't exactly make me feel good, it does give me some hope.

We're waitlisted for one night at SSR (have OKW for that night at the moment, but really don't want to switch resorts). The DVC owner I rented through was confident that we'd get in that one night at SSR (do they all say that?)

Update - our waitlist went through!

We had the two back to back nights that we could get at SSR set up as one reservation, then an individual reservation at SSR and another individual reservation at OKW (waitlist SSR). When the single night SSR waitlist went through, we merged all of the reservations. (I say "we," but it was the genius of the owner I rented through.)

Awesome! Congrats!

Throw some pixie dust my way....HHI is COMPLETELY booked for Easter week and I *really* need that Sunday waitlist to come through:wizard:.

I'm just so torn. Have BLT 2br booked for Oct 2-6 and have BCV 2br waitlisted. Have added an extra adult to our party, 4 adults and 4 kids so I'm thinking we really will need the extra bathroom and the sleeper chair now.

Really want to stay at BCV for F&W and SAB but who wants to give up BLT?? We'll be happy no matter where we stay. 17 days and counting.

Were you allowed to use points for this? When we wanted to add on an extra night once we were told that we had to call Member Services to arrange it.

Last fall we were staying on rented points at SSR. Called MS from the room to see if we could add a couple of days to our stay. They were actually surprised we were already there but they called the front desk and linked up our reservations so we didn't have to move. No problem. Front desk can't take points from your account.

can someone explain what "walking" a reservation means please:confused3
thanks!!

*sorry meant to post this to another thread:( don't know how to delete it!

They CAN...but usually only when Member Services is closed. Typically the only time the front desk can/will help you with a points reservation is if you need a room for the current night and it's after 7pm eastern when MS closes (or holiday, etc.)

If Member Services is still open or the reservation is for any night other than the current, they will direct you to MS for the booking.

Good to know. Thanks.

I was told that front desk couldn't access your points but I guess that if you talk to 3 different people you may get 3 different answers. :)
