I'm doing some laundry and before I mangle yet another attempt at folding fitted sheets, I figured I'd ask for advice. So...what's the secret?

I put all the corners together, inside one another, then fold down the edges to square it off as much as possible and then fold. Then I wrap the fitted sheet and pillow cases in the flat sheet making a little package of sorts. It keeps the linen closet neat and everything is together.

I do this, too. But the fitted sheet never folds into the same shape as the flat sheet, and it ends up a mess. That's why my linen closet is a mess, and when I wash the sheets, I put them right back on the bed.

My SIL knows the "secret" but I have never been able to figure it out.

Same here! I have tons of brand new looking sheets in a hall closet and some in bedroom closets, too. They will always be new looking because once they got folded neatly, I'm not unfolding them! Just remove sheets from bed, wash and put right back on. Easy way out! :rotfl:

Cool! Thanks for the tip! I just did this and my sheets have never been folded this nice before! I like the package idea, too! I never dreamed I could be this excited about laundry! :rotfl2: Marriage changes people. ;)

I can't do it either. I get frustrated and kind of just ball mine up :rotfl2:

My mom turns hers inside out and then puts one corner into the other, but I have never figured it out. Hers always come out flat though. Maybe if I am ambitious I will ask her to show me this weekend.

I just kind of clump mine up into a ball and dump it in the linen closet. Nobody ever goes snooping in there so it's kind of my own dirty little secret. :ssst:

I saw Martha Stewart fold sheets one day on her show. Made me look foolish. Her sheets looked like she just took them out of the package. Oh well, sheets aren't my top priority. :lmao:

You get someone to help you. You each hold two corners and pull it as tight as is possible..stand as far away as possible. Then you make your side that is hanging down straight. You fold up, keeping the corners in.

Then grab the hanging corner and again, keep it pulled as tight as possible and fold them together. Do it one more time (the trick is keeping it pulled tight between you and other person.

This should result in a straight sheet. Then you walk towards the other person and fold it the other direction.

When done, fold it inside the matching flat sheet so it will stack well in the linen closet.

I learned this from a hotel maid and it works!

Of course, I'm always alone when folding sheets so I just shove them in the middle of the nicely folded flat sheet so you can't see what a sheety job I did. :)

I like your style. :thumbsup2

I take care of mine in one of three ways:

Option 1: put them back on the bed and forget about folding them at all

Option 2: attempt to fold them, resulting in a messy ball like form that will then be shoved into the closet and the door closed quickly so that it doesn't escape

Option 3: Wait to wash sheets until I know mom is coming over and then ask her to help me. :teeth:

Not much help was I?

Me too! I try to fold them and I start out fine, but I ever get the nice even package that my Mom and my sister end up with. So I buy very good sheets, high thread count, wash, dry and replace. The ones in my linen closet only come out if I really need to make up the bed right away.

The sheet techniques worked great on my regular sheets. We also have some flannel sheets that are thicker. It didn't work as well on those, but I did manage to cram them into the flat sheet to make it look nice. ;)

I do my best to fold the fitted sheet then place it, the flat sheet and one of the pillow cases into the other pillow case. That way everything is together, nothing gets misplaced and I can mash down on the pillowcase until it is all flat and pretty looking :rolleyes1
