I'm beginning to think about a new car. Does anyone know anything about the Toyota Highlander? I know that they are coming out with a hybrid in early 2005. thanks

I don't really know anything about them, but they are very nice looking. I would imagine they would be reliable as well, since it's a Toyota. When DH and I get a new car (maybe next year), we will probably at least look at Highlanders and Honda Pilots (used, most likely) since we like them so much.

We just got a PT Cruiser about three months ago. I wish we had gotten a Highlander instead. But I love Toyotas, so it's understandable. My son and husband realllllly wanted the PT Cruiser.

I also saw that they are putting out a hybrid in 2005. My brother has a Prius and he loves it.

I have a 2001 Highlander. Love it...no problems at all.
Drives smooth, has a lot of power.
Holds a lot, handles well in all kinds of weather.

My DH just bought one LAST WEEKEND! :) We had been looking at the smaller SUV's like the Saturn Vue, Mazda Tribute, and Honda CRV... decided to look at the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander We chose the Highlander over the Pilot for two reasons.. first of all, it's much more affordable, and secondly, it drove so much nicer! The Highlander is based on a car engine. DH traded in his Toyota Camry, and his insurance only went up $1 with the Highlander. It has a great crash rating.. 5 stars I believe. Not sure about the Pilot. It rides smoothly, it's very quiet and also comfortable. The kids LOVE the extra seats in the very back! LOL Anyway, he ABSOLUTLEY LOVES his Highlander. He has a gold 4 wheel drive, V6 model. He did not get the Limited model. But got all the features in the one he bought... right off the lot. I definately recommend it!

When I bought my Camry I was *actually* shopping for the Highlander. It was just a tad bit out of my price range. I love my Camry but constantly wish I had bought the Highlander (except for now that the gas prices have gone up!!). Anyway, my cousin has a 2001 and she LOVES it. She previously had a Blazer and was looking at the Chevy Trailblazer. She just couldn't believe how much nice the Highlander is. It rides/drives like a Camry and everytime I ride in it, I just LOVE it. Plus, it has the Lexus engine in it which is very well rated.

I was just looking at these on Saturday. I couldn't decide which would make more sense... the Highlander or the Sienna. They both seemed to be in the same price range. The Highlander was pretty nice looking! Good luck deciding! (I wish I could figure out what I want to do!!)

We have a Sienna that I love. It's roomy, rides like a car, and almost paid off. No maintenance problems at all (typical for a Toyota). We thought the Sienna rode a little more like a car than the Highlander and the Sienna was a bit bigger. The Highlander we test drove had a bench seat for the second row. Our Sienna has captain's chairs in the middle row, bench seat (seats 3) that fold down in the back. Both the second and third row in the Sienna are removable.

Highlander is an SUV, while the Sienna is a mini-van.

And we love it!! My husband drives the Highlander and it is so smooth and as a previous poster said, it has lots of power. My husband is 6' tall and finds it very comfortable to drive in. He has had no problems at all with it since we got it (knock on wood!). We're hoping to buy out the lease because we love it so much!

I'll add something about space too.
the back seat area has loads of leg room!!
Very important in my family as my children (grown now) are 6'5" and 5'10". DH also 6'4" and it is a comfortable ride for everyone.
