I'm looking into buying a Navigation system thats portable, easy to use,and under $200. Anyone have one they would recommend?

Thanks!

I bought one! A Garmin Nuvi 650. Can't wait to get it!
I wanted to thank all who responded. It really helped me to make a final decision.

we have one and we love it.. but it was over $200..

I have a Garmin Nuvi 350. I would honestly recommend spending a little more and get the "Text to speech" option.

Text to speech will say the name of the street instead of simply saying "Turn Left in 500 Feet" it will say "Turn Left onto Main Street in 500 Feet." This is a great addition and you have no idea how helpful it is until you have multiple streets to turn and you don't know the correct one.

Mine cost about $250

I thought the 350 had text to speech???

if you have an aldi's nearby they have one for about $180.00 -its really good.it has all the extras ..

I have an older Garmin, it has performed very well for me. I would buy another from then if/when mine stops working.

I have a garmin that I got at Wal-mart on black friday last year for about $100. I love it! I'm sure that a more expensive model would be nice, but this one does the trick. I was worried that it would be a waste. We have used one that we got through the rental car place and it was top of the line I'm sure, and I was very surprised at how similar this one is to that.

I have a Nuvi 350. LOVE IT!!! And it does tell me the names of the streets. :goodvibes

Same here. My Garmin does say the street names and I love it! If it ever stops working, I will definitely go right out and buy another Garmin.

It does. Hence why I bought it :) I meant spend a little more than $200 and get a version that has Text to Speech like the 350 :)

That makes sense. I guess I was confused because I saw recently that the price had dropped to around $150.

We have a Garmin. Got it last year for Christmas, I don't remember how much I paid, it was a really good deal at Costco. I think it is the Garmin 600 or 650 (some number in the 600's)

We LOVE ours. I'd buy another Garmin in a heartbeat.

I have Garmin Quest and Nuvi 650. I love the Nuvi because it is very easy to use, but lacks some of the features that the older Garmin has (like user configurable data i.e. ETA, miles-to-destination, elevation etc.), and the maps and routing algorithms of the Nuvi aren't the greatest I've seen. If I'm ever in the market for another GPS, I'd shop the other brands as well.

We recently bought a refurbished 350. It is great!

I have a Garmin and I love, love, love it. It was more than $200, though.

The current issue of consumer reports (electronics) has an article on navigational units or whatever they're called.

Probably the 650 like ours, that's where/when we purchased it. :thumbsup2 We both really like it; I agree about the voice telling you which street to turn on by name, it's really helpful when there's a bunch of streets close together and you're in a strange area. DH travels a ton for work and he swears by it. It's small enough to fit in his pocket or in my purse so we don't have to worry about leaving it in the car.

I also have the 350... paid $199 on amazon on Father's Day weekend. Not sure what it costs now, but at the time that was a TREMENDOUS price. :thumbsup2

I have the bottom line Garmin Nuvi 200 (going for under $200 now). Except for the fact it doesn't do the street thing other people mention - I just love it!

Got it from thegpsstore.com
