Hi all,

DH has given me the go-ahead to buy 160 pts at AKV, and together with the 160 pt bonus to be used at SSR or II, we've got lots (for us newbies) to use. I was wondering what everyone's experiences were when trying to exchange. The selling pitch was you get these really nice places around the world for a week for only 160 pts - is this true? Also, they said a new feature was you could split your week up into a 3 night stay and a 4 night stay at 2 different locations.

Any insight is much appreciated! :rotfl:

Anybody ever use Interval Internationsl?
Sure, I book 1-2 reservations every year through Interval International (II) -- but not using my DVC points.

DVC's Corporate Membership through II is "ok" and remains a "nice to have" option for years you cannot use your points at a DVC resort. The 160 points you were quoted is for a 1BR unit, high season, 7 night stay. Points will be higher for larger units in high season; lower for smaller units or off-season travel. For each exchange you will be charged some number of points and a transaction fee (currently $95). Both points and fee may change over the years of your ownership. Full week exchanges are booked through DVC's Member Services (telephone). The reservation will be booked immediately if available -- or you may request an open search/waitlist for a number of resorts/locations/dates.

The short stays (3-6 nights) are booked online. The DVC member logs into the DVC Member Website and from there transfers to a special "II for DVC Member" site. Each search is restricted to one location and one specific set of dates. Available inventory will be shown with resort/dates/unit size and # of points required. Book online with a $75 fee. (Again, fee and points subject to change in years to come.)

Run a few searches for threads discussing the number of points required for various stays and for the inventory available.

Thanks you for the input! I tried a search, but the system seemed to freeze everytime; your links work well.
We've figured out that going to WDW every 2-3 years is enough for us. Therefore, I think it's very likely we'll end up using the exchanges more than going to WDW itself. I love the idea of a week in Hawaii or Europe for only 160pts. Have you enjoyed the resorts available through II?

Searching Tip: Use Google! ;)
In Google's search field add "site:disboards.com" to your search criteria. I started with the search "site:disboards.com dvc ii points" and then modified the search to whittle things down.

I've had great exchanges into both II resorts and RCI resorts using our timeshares. A great help are the resort reviews on the Timeshare User's Group (TUG) website: http://www.tug2.net/

FWIW, at least 5 of our II exchanges have been into DVC ... specifically into Boardwalk Villas. We knew we'd be happy with these exchanges!
