Spending a few days in DC, this Thursday and I thought about touring. Thoughts?

Well worth it. Make sure you get your timed tickets online ahead of time ($1?).

An amazing, shockng, disturbing, informative place. Not to be missed. And get your tickets ahead of time.

It's a very emotional experience.

Can I print them on line? I'm planning on going this Friday and won't have enough time to have them mailed.

I was there in July and agree with all the PP's!!!

Go to the Holocaust Musueum website and it will direct you to the ticket website telling you the times avilable for your visit. You can also purchase tickets ahead of time for the trip up the Washington Monument if you are interested in that.

Get tickets ahead of time. Well worth the price of admission. Absolutely a high impact experience.

Be prepared if you are a highly sensitive and emotional person. I never learned about the Holocaust other than there were concentration camps and people died. My education was a few visuals and that was about it. I did not know the small details until visiting the museum. The first thing I saw upon entering was a huge wall sized poster of the inside of a concentration camp. It was so disturbing that I began to cry and went to the nearby bathroom.

I slowly made my way around the museum. it is huge and soooooo much information it is impossible to read everything in one trip. That was when I realized exactly what the Holocaust was all about. I made my way to the theater seating where they showed film clips of people telling their true stories of survival. 10 minutes into it, i began sobbing. It was too much. I left the museum without finishing it. I cried for 30 minutes after leaving the building. I would like to return, but I know I just could not do it.

One of my mother's good friends is in that video.

I agree with everyone else. It's extremely graphic and entirely worth going. I haven't been there in over 10 years and must visit again soon.
