I'm thinking about going there for my 20th birthday this upcoming Sunday. Do they serve regular food as well as dessert?

If they don't, does anyone know of a good diner restaurant in Hollywood? I really love hamburgers and those diner places always seem to have the best ones.

Thanks!:goodvibes

They have a very limited menu of actual food items. I'd recommend going across the street to the Hollywood & Highland complex. There's a Johnny Rockets in their food area.

Thanks for the recommendation but I'm not a JR fan. I find their food too overpriced for the size.

hmmm, maybe we'll just go to In-n-out.

Here's the link to the Soda Fountain's website:

If you press the button on the left, it has the menu. I tried to save it to my computer and post it, but failed. I usually just get ice cream when I'm there, but I have eaten the grilled cheese and hot dog which was good. If you're going to be w/ a lot of ppl, I'd suggest to get the Mickey's Masterpiece for dessert. It's HUGE!!! I've never eaten it, but have seen a lot of ppl order it; too much for me an my fam. It is pricey, but depending how many ppl you'll be with, I'm sure you can split.
As for other diners, there's Mel's Diner nearby. If you're at the El Capitan/Soda Fountain, make a right on Hollywood and it's on Highland on the left side, next to the old Max Factor Building. They have a bigger variety of food and I love the ambiance!

HA! if you think Johnny Rocket's is overpriced then I'd steer clear of the Disney Soda Shop. It's WAY overpriced! Went there with DD's a month ago and it was $8 for a scoop of ice cream with a topping and a plastic princess ring!

i don't know where the disney soda shop is but i saw someone mentioned hollywood and highland. if you go down to highland and sunset, there is an in n out right over there next to hollywood highschool. or maybe hit up mel's diner?

The Disney Soda Shop was a really big letdown. Go in with little expectations.

Yep they serve real food but I would also recommend 25 Degrees for burgers, it's literally a minute or so walk from the Disney Soda Shop, still on Hollywood Boulevard, and the burgers are fabulous :)

We were also disappointed with the Disney Soda Shoppe. I didn't think it wasn't anything special, and it didn't feel very Disney.

We enjoyed the disney soda shop. I didn't expect much disney and went with lower expectations, so maybe that was why. Both times we have sat at the bar (that is a diner to DS5) and enjoyed food and ice cream. The food was delicious every time, mickey waffle, grilled cheese, roast beef sandwich and ruben. I didn't feel it was overpriced at all. Not a bargain but much cheaper then most places we ate.

We at a Ruby's on Hunting Beach Pier and I wasn't that impressed. It was fun though.
