Anybody else wish there was a Starbucks at Disney?

I have friends who have told me lots of things. One said Napoleon reigned in the 1600s. Another said Amaretto Liqueur was made from cherries. I make a mental note of what I am told, then I go to the internet and look up the facts, before I embrace anything my friends tell me. :)

I had no reason to not believe them, so I didnt check (so sorry).
but anyway starbucks coffee is yuck. if you want real coffee try costa.

I enjoy Starbucks, but in my opinion having one on Disney property would be worthless. Although most of the coffee at Disney is poor, there are the gems like Kona Cafe. Just take a bit of time to seek out some great coffee.

I thought about this and I agree with a few other posters...
I am a Starbucks JUNKIE also (tall soy chai, please!) BUT I think I need a break from my "real" life when visiting Disney... I'll just seek out the Kona coffee often mentioned here, and enjoy my vacation!

This year we are bringing down vias for our morning coffee. They aren't fantastic - but there is a 100% improvement from Disney coffee! Costco is selling them in a 24 pack for 15.00. :thumbsup2

I would love to have a Starbucks, but it would have to be a real one, operated by them. Everytime I go to one that's operated by outside people (ala the Starbucks at Target, etc), its terrible.

That said, given that Disney does so many other things well, I don't understand why they can't get it together to serve good coffee, at least at a few specialty kiosks or something? :confused3 Clearly, there would be a huge market for it.

Hey, my kind of people. I also bring several bags of fresh roasted coffee and a small cheap grinder to WDW.

Do yourselves a favor, check out sweetmarias dot com. Absolutely the best selection of green beans, accessories and information on home roasting.

Steve

LOL! We buy most of our green beans from SweetMaria's also. Several of the lots we've sampled so far this year have been amazing. Does spoil one though. :cloud9:

On an aside...
Steve, have you tried the Kenya Kirinyaga Karimikui ? I was thinking about ordering some, but not sure if it is going to be too 'intense' in it's brightness, or just a cup with a lot of character (in a good way). I was also eyeing up the Guatemala Finca La Bella, as sometimes I get a craving for the balanced, mild flavor of a Jamaica Blue Mountain cultivar (even if it is less complex).

Seriously though, for anyone who really enjoys a good cup of coffee, do check out the SweetMaria's website.

I have 5 Tims within a 5 minute drive, plus the cafe at our hospital is now managed by Tims as well as two gas stations that have drive thru Tim windows :) My Corporate office even has a Tims in it (this is an office of 2500 employees) to discourage us from going offsite for Tims at the end of the street :)

My little town of 16k just opened a 2nd Tim Hortons because the town demanded it - in the morning the road was blocked both ways for a few hours, with the drive through line up blocking the bus parking lot!

Now the line up is only about 20 cars for a few hours in their morning :rotfl:

Secret we found out - "Real Canadian Coffee" from Wholesale Club/Extra Foods ($6.49 for a BIG canister) tastes 95% like Timmies coffee - amazingly close. Tims coffee they sell in the store is NOT the same coffee they make their coffee with!! Even the coffee they sell to make at home in Tims is different! :thumbsup2

There is Kona coffee at the POLY and you ask for Starbucks :scared1:

Have you tried the Kona clover coffee at Starbucks it knocks the sox off the poly's kona? Anyhow when I'm at disney there is a Starbucks its in my room lol I bring my own coffee and a buy creamer on my way into the resort from the airport. I also buy Oj, bottled water and fresh fruit. I must have my coffee on the porch in the morning and I like being able to snack on a fruit. I'm also the kind of weirdo that likes to pick out there own fruit I don't like overly ripe fruit I get some serious allergies when things are over ripe.

Thanks for the tip! I did not know that. I will be checking that out during my next visit to Costco. I am already planning to bring Via on my next trip in December. Last year I carted my coffeemaker, coffee, etc. We were at POP so we didn't have a coffeemaker in the room. It was a bit of a pain dealing with all of that. I think Via will be easier. It is MUCH better than Disney's coffee.

Seriously! I cannot understand this. Is it just plain easier and cheaper to feed the masses with Nescafe? Surely Nescafe's contract with Disney cannot be THAT good. I wonder what it would take for them to have real coffee - at least at the resorts if no place else.

Actually I think the contract is pretty substantial. Nescafe sponsers the The Land which has Soarin, Living with the Land and the Lion King movie thing plus the food court so I would say it's probably a very substantial contract.
And if you've ever bought actual Disney coffee in the coffee shops it's actually pretty darn good coffee. My aunt LOVES their coffee and I always bring her home a large canister of it. I was so desperate last year what with going down there solo with my DD's 6 & 15 months that I actually got a high quality thermos that holds 2 pots of coffee in it and keeps it hot or cold for 24 hours. It was a lot to carry around all day (granted it stayed in the stroller basket unless I was getting on or off a bus) but it did keep the coffee all day. I sweetened it after putting it into the thermos and some days put my cream in it also so that it was ready to drink as needed and other days would get creamers from a QS location. It worked great and I had good coffee (Dunkin's) whenever I needed it (which was often). This year thanks to the VIA iced coffee I am going to bring a bunch of those and perhaps a smaller thermos for hot coffee. The VIA isn't my favorite, but it's definitely 100% better than Nescafe. Also with the hot VIA there are some that are awful and do still taste burnt, but I did find one that was really good and didn't have the burnt taste. I would say to do the VIA challenge at your local Starbucks and try the different flavors (I think they will give a sample for free even) and find out if there is one you like.

lol! Then why would you comment on a thread about coffee?

The same reason why I will,

I rarely drink coffee. :lmao:

But my DW does and she does not like the coffee in WDW. I'm glad there is no Starbucks; At least I won't have to spend $5 on an overpriced cup of Java to feed her addiction. :rotfl:

I'm on this thread also - and I don't drink coffee at all. Starbucks fortunately does not serve only coffee.

I don't drink coffee either, but I've heard a lot of people say that Starbucks coffee is terrible and tastes like its burnt. They don't care for the Disney coffee either, but based on what I've heard people say I don't think Starbucks would be the best option.

You know, this is a good point. There are lots of Tim's locations here & they all get the morning traffis jam line up. Maybe that's why Disney hasn't put one in the Canadian pavillion.....the line would stretch all the way to England (or Mexico)!! :rotfl2:
