Anybody else use a Nikon D3 at Disney?

Just wondering if anyone else uses the Nikon D3 at Disney. I have been using mine for quite sometime now and I love it. I freelance on the side, but love bringing it to Disney. I get all kinds of looks from guests wondering why I have such a huge camera. I usually go in with 14-24mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm, and a SB-900. I know it's crazy, but I like to be prepared.

I am only aware of one regular visitor here that has a D3. I know she takes it with her.

If I owned one it would also be with me!

I do. Last year I had the 24-70 or 70-200 attached the majority of the time and then when needed I pulled out an SB-800.

Honestly, I didn't get any weird looks or anything like that.

There was was this really awesome/nice guy when my daughter was riding dumbo with me (MNSSHP and it was late night/dark) and my DH was taking pics of us riding. The guy had the exact same set up as you and was taking pics of his family riding Dumbo and he started chatting with DH. Really really awesome guy (and he gave us his website and he does great work!).

Otherwise, I got the same comment as usual - when we went to a restaurant and I'd put the camera down on a table, our server would usually make comment about how big it was. And I got the "That camera must take great pictures." line ALL the time. :) And when I was taking night-shots with a tripod, I was approached many times, people asking me where something was or asking me to take their picture.

Otherwise, what I found kind of amusing was I'd have my camera slung over my shoulder messenger bag style just hanging out there. Everyone else was being all super careful with theirs, and not that I'm not careful, but I'm so used to having it with me EVERYWHERE that to me it's not a big deal to have it out and about.

Anyway... have fun. Part of the fun of anything for me on vacation is having the creative freedom to document my families lives as I want too!

We have one but also a D300 which is what we took on our trips the last 2 years. In daylight I don't think there is much difference but we are going again next month and I'm so tempted to take the D3 for the low light without flash benefit! :)

Yeah, I get the same comments. People usually ask if I work for Disney and say yes, but not as a photographer. People always say that it must take amazing pictures and I just tell them that it's a helpful tool but it's really up to the skill of the photographer. I would have to say my favorite use for it is during the parades. I can get the shot I want everytime. It also came in handy at the "blue carpet" at the grand opening of the American Idol Experience. There was a lot of press and I was lucky to be included because of the D3. Anybody do any HDR work? What are your favorite areas of Disney World to shoot in?

Here is a picture of my gear (from an iPhone camera).

I've carried a Canon 1D series camera to the parks several times. It's similar to the D3 in size and shape. I haven't gotten many funny looks. In fact, most people seem to avoid making eye contact with me.
