Anybody else getting new questions when making reservations?

I dont see how she thought that we had already arrived when I told her I need to make changes for RM for August 14th as soon as she picked up on my call. Thing is, is that she first asked what resort we were staying at and our checkin date. I said AKL and Aug 5th. She then asked me what room number we were staying in. :confused3 Just really makes no sense to me. I can understand calling and them asking what our room number is either ON or AFTER Aug 5th, but before? All the other CMs I had just asked what resort and my checkin date and that was it. I dont know maybe she was new or something.

To clarify your questions...

When staying at a Disney resort once you have already checked in we are supposed to ask for your room number. This is just to locate you by phone if necessary. No other reason for it. I promise the dine CM's will not be showing up at your resort door, LOL! The CM you spoke to either in error thought you had already arrived or was just asking for the info requested on the page. The room number field must be filled in before we can proceed on all reservations whether you have checked in or not. If you have not checked in we put your check in date in the room number field. The other thing that is sometimes added there is the date you will be dining. This is always done for an offsite guest. That field has to be filled with something to proceed.

As far as why did they know it was your Anniversary? Well that's Disney Magic!! Some CM along the way who had access to your ADR's filled that in based on something you said or something they saw on another ADR of yours. I love to add notes to ADRs when a guest makes a statement like yeah we'll be there for my mom's 80th b-day & the kids wanna eat at Chef Mickey's, etc... she wasn't asking that the b-day be acknowledged but I add it anyway for the fun. Can you picture grandma's face at Chef Mickey's when the table is covered in confetti & they bring her a b-day cupcake?? Love that! Only wish I was there to see their faces!! ::yes::

I understand, she probably didn't think you had already arrived, she either mispoke in error, (imagine taking call after call after call, non stop for hours) or when she got to the room number field instead of putting your check in date she asked for your room number because that's what the field asks for even if you have not yet arrived. In that field she should have put either your check in date or dining date for that ADR. She just mispoke. There are several things that could go in that field depending on ths situation. Does that make sense?

Makes sense.

Disneydine....thanks for clearing up all the questions.

I have always been asked these things and never had any problems with it. The only wierd thing that happened to me was that when I called to make my CP dinner package ADR yesterday, I was able to get Le Cellier, but then the CM said "Characters are subject to change".

I know for a fact there are no characters at Le Cellier, so I'm guessing she was a new CM.

LOL... the code we enter for "characters are subject to change" is the same as the CAN code for "narrarators are subject to change". She saw the code and repeated what she normally does, woops!! Hey, by the way your narrator is subject to change without notice, not a character! LOL!

No, she CLEARLY asked "What room number are you staying in?" How do you get that mixed up with whats your reservation number.
I understand she clearly said "room number". People make mistakes. Maybe her prior call was from a Guest onsite and she still had part of her mind on that call. Maybe she meant to say, "What resort are you staying in?" Who knows? The proper response would have been something like, "Well, my kitchen doesn't have a room number..." in a pleasant/happy (vs snippy, rude, etc) tone of voiceor something similar.

I dont see how she thought that we had already arrived when I told her I need to make changes for RM for August 14th as soon as she picked up on my call.
She made a mistake! She's sorry. Get over it.

LOL I also got the "characters subject to change" while booking the CP. I didn't think it was weird until I read this thread.

I am over it. Its not my fault people keep responding to my post. What do you want me to do? Just ignore you guys and not respond? All I simply stated that it was weird how she asked me what room number Im in. Everyone after that starting stating that maybe she meant something else or whatever. And I told you all exactly what happened and she DID ask me those questions. No need to get snippy at me.

She made a mistake! She's sorry. Get over it.

I also did not like that they wanted to know if I was on the dining plan before looking for a table for me, so I called right back and lied, saying I was not on a dining plan. Got the same results. One table at Ohana at 9:45 pm, which I passed on once again. :(

I was wondering the same thing. As a matter of fact, I just mentioned to my DH this morning that they have been asking if I am on the Dining Plan before checking. Glad to know you got the same results at least. :)

Another thing I dont understand is when you go to make changes to your ADRs like change the date or time or whatever. Every single time I go to make a change they wanna know all the basic info like resort and checkin and then they ask me for the conformation # and then they ask me if im on the DDP. I mean if they pulled up the ADR dont they see weither or not your on the DDP? And if not, if your making a change and you were on the DDP from the beginning and you still are on the DDP, do they go through the whole speel of how many credits it is and stuff even though you heard it the 1st time when you made the original ADR?

No doubt the screen asks for this info each time. So what if they ask? They really do have to read the script each time, other wise some person will say "They didn't tell me this restaurant was non-smoking when I booked it." Yes, having worked in customer service (not for Disney) there really are some people that you must be that specific with about everything each and every time.

I know...its just annoying sometimes to have to sit there and hear them say the same thing I've already have heard once before. Allow enough time to get to the restraunt, characters subject to change, park admission required. Im thinking the entire time on the phone, I know this alreadyyyyyyyyyy :rotfl: GOD it was murder for my 180 day mark. Yeah to hear the same thing over and over and over for 15 ADRs. Yeah by the time I got off the phone I felt like putting my head through a wall :rotfl:

If I may, i will clarify your questions. I am a Dining CM. You are asked if you are staying at a Walt Disney Resort for 2 reasons, the main one is if you are, I will then ask if you are on a dine plan. If you are not there is no reason to ask that of you since you cannot be on a dine plan. It avoids questions about the dine plan which you are not eligible for any way, thus saving us both time. The other reason is for contact purposes while you are staying with us. (In case we need to know how to reach you.)

There are two places on the dine application screen to input if you are on a dine plan. The first one is on the first screen we see before we see the availability. Some CM's ask for it right away to go ahead and input it at that time. I personally wait until I secure your table to ask. I'd rather you not think that being on the dine plan or not makes a difference because as far as availability goes, it does not. Disney is not saving tables for dine plan guests. All availability is available to all. I understand your concern on this one, it does make you feel like you are not part of a "special club" or something. LOL! For that reason I ask it after I secure your table.

Hope this was helpful! :)

I have a totally OT question. Can you guys see on your screen if someone calls daily trying to get a certain ADR? I always say "hello, this is my daily phone call to see if Tier 1 Hoop Dee Doo is avail". :rotfl2: Is there a screen that says "Warning...same question every day."? lol. Dining CM's rock BTW!!!

You should start a "show me your surprised faces" thread. Then you could see them too. :thumbsup2

ha ha. We have people like that at my work. I work in Purchasing for a very large engineering firm. You would be surprised how many times I have to repeat the same things over and over...and this is co-workers. :rotfl2:

We are required to say all that stuff, we are monitored for call accuracy. However if you make it known that this isn't your first BBQ (LOL) by saying "you don't have to tell me all that stuff, I am already familiar" most CM's would then shorten their spiel and only tell you when something off the wall popped up.

Oh yea, and you think it's murder for you, think of poor me saying that stuff over and over and over all day! LOL!!! I swear I dream it sometimes. :rotfl:

Ha ha! No, don't worry, we don't know who's calling how many times. Trust me you are not alone by a long shot. It's just not a normal day if I don't check availability at Cinderella's Royal Table, LeCellier & Chef Mickey's at least a gazillion times, LOL!!!

Ugh I can imagine it gets tiring. You prob even say your speels in your sleep and prob no them by heart by now. Yeah when I called at my 180 day mark to make all my ADRs by the 10th one the CM was like *SIGH* ok your conformation number is.... :lmao: I felt so bad for her. I could tell she was getting tired repeating herself over and over. She was a fantastic CM though.

This morning I was asked for my zip code just before the CM confirmed my dinner reservation.:confused3 I had previously given my ressie # and phone number, so not sure why that was asked.

wow zip code? i've never been asked that before :confused3

what's disney gonna wanna know next? our spouses and kids names, our full address, date of birth, a faxed copy of a photo ID to show proof that you are you

I wouldnt be surprised you have to have a photo ID on you when you go to check in for your ADR so they know for sure that you're just not trying to steal someone else's ADR. You already have to have a photo ID for tours when you go to check-in, from what I've been told by Disney Tours.
