Hi! We are leaving in 2 days and I have the most horrible head cold and I still have to pack etc. Just wondering if this happens to anyone else? We normally come home from WDW and get a cold or something! LOL

We all had the dreaded 3-week virus that everyone had back in Feb. The cold symptoms that lasted forever. Well, the week we were in DW, magically, all symptoms were gone. Once we got back to PA, they were back! I think there's something in the Disney air and sunshine. Don't worry, you'll never notice because you'll be having too much fun.

My dd got croup the night before we left! Neither of us slep the night before we left. She was coughing all night and I was up listening. She was sick till 4 days into our trip! We did bring tons of tylonel and she was a trooper. You can tell she was miserable in the first few days of pics.

It seems like one of us...usually my son...is always sick right before we leave.
Last trip it was my turn, and let me warn you flying with a head cold is no fun - the fluid built up behind my eardrum and I couldn't hear for weeks. It lasted almost 3 weeks and took 2 doses of antibiotics and steroids to clear it up...
If your really stuffed up and you're going to fly, talk to your doctor about getting some heavy duty decongestents now so the flight isn't so uncomfortable.

Hope you feel better and have a great trip!

Both of my kids managed to get sick the week before we left for WDW in mid-February (they had runny, stuffy noses, terrible cough, fever, etc.). I kept them out of school for three days. My daughter felt better towards the end of the week, but my son was still a bit under-the-weather when we left for Florida (we drove down from CT) and he slept most of the way. I noticed that on our first afternoon in Florida, while hanging out on the patio of the condo, he seemed less congested. That Florida sunshine really is the best medicine! And he was feeling 100% better as soon as we set foot in the Magic Kingdom!

I hope that you feel better and I hope that you have a wonderful trip! :)

MY DD has a cold and now has an ear infection! I took her to urgent care to get her started on antibiotics since we are flying Saturday. I hope it will be ok I flew once with an ear infetion and it hurt so bad!

I got so sick before our September 07 trip - really bad the week before. Really miserable respiratory kinda thing. I lost my voice completely and could barely talk the first two days of the trip. Fortunately, it was mostly over by the 3rd day. It's really hard to keep your small child under control in a busy, loud place like Disney World when you can't speak above a whisper.

We were also at the Poly pool one night when I couldn't talk and there were these two brothers there behaving horribly. They'd wait til they got to the top of the slide where no one (except me up there with my little one) could see them and they would start beating the crap out of each other and calling each other names and then... um... not sure what words are allowed here, but they were doing inappropriate things with their genitalia. :sad2: I kept watching and watching and finally lost it, but couldn't get any words out. When my voice finally kicked in, I was like two inches from them and all I managed to squeak out was an enraged sounding whisper (bug eyes and everything) of "DO YOU HAVE PARENTS???" The whole lecture was supposed to involve me just asking if there parents were at the pool with them because I'd like to go speak with them. It came out more crazy though. Of course, they left the pool right then, so I guess my scary whisper worked. :lmao:

back in 2005 we had a trip to disneyworld for oct. and my grandaughter had sinus problems so they gave her an antibiotic ...she broke out in hives...we found out she was allergic to sulphur in the medicine....the doctor told us to go on with our plans ....first few days she wasn't herself but then she was alright......i guess things can happen along the way of our lives.....she has pics with a red face with the characters......:goodvibes we still was alright there after awhile when we saw her getting back to herself again...:upsidedow

YES! We went to DW on April 22. For the entire week before, my family took turns having the WORST CASE of the 24 hour stomach flu. The -OMG-I'm-dying-please-kill-me-now-I-can't-get-off-the-bathroom-floor- stomach flu.

On the night before we were supposed to leave, only my daughter was still nursing the bug. We went anyway. My SIL (who doesn't have kids) was unaware of my daughter's sensitive stomach and fed her froot loops at 10 pm the night we arrived. :scared: Natch, DD performed an immediate technicolor yawn all over SIL's shiny, polished concrete floor.

Thankfully, DD was fine after that and our trip was awesome. :thumbsup2

No~I always get sick at the destination of my choice-including in Vegas on my belated honeymoon  :sad2: I think it's because I get overly excited and my adrenaline rush works differently then everybody else's.

we are going saturday and one of my DD's has tonisilitis and the other has bad allergies at the moment.... I am sure that my nerves will kick in before we leave and I wont feel like going...

Ugh! Us also. We fly out Saturday and My mom has a cold, my DS has sinus issues and my DH and I have sore throats. I'm hoping for the cure of the Florida sunshine. Our Dr. told my mom to use Afrin before the flight.:confused3

But what can we do if our kids get sick when we are there. My husband had strep last week and my son has is now and I know me and or my daugher are going to get it. I am so worried!!!

what it is about vacations and getting sick.
We were at Disneyworld March/April. DD got a nice cold the week before, then DS got it and then two days before we were leaving I woke up and felt just awful (thankfully though they were both on the mend). I am prone to sinus infections and when I woke up on the Monday (we were leaving Tuesday), I knew I had one. Off I went to the dr who told me his recommendation was that I not fly. HAHAHHAHAHHA...ya think? So he gave me antibiotics, some whopping doses of sinutab and I was good to go. Flying was not so bad and I just kept on taking the meds to get me through the first few days at Disney and then I was all better. But yeah - getting sick before a Disney vacation sucks. Hope you feel better soon.
