SnackyStacky is doing a wonderful job trying to answer all our questions about the new MYW passes. Let's try and help out by starting a thread of first hand experiences coming from our DISers who have done this all ready. ~:earboy2:~

Someone on The Dis reported trading up a (non-expiring) hopper pass towards a 10 day expiring new (MYW) pass. Either this was a glitch on the part of the ticket agent, or the policy requiring that trade-ups have all of the attributes of the original pass is subject to change. If purchasing non-expiration is not required, trading up to MYW can sometimes be better than using old passes as-is and also buying new passes during the same vacation.

(copied from another post)
The best bang for the buck is achieved when an old pass is used as-is during a vacation for which enough leftover passes are on hand and no new passes need be bought, or during vacations of 1, 2, 3, 11, or 12 days. (4 and 13 day vacations are close calls.) Not everyone's present and foreseeable future vacation schedules will allow this.

The ticket analyzer didn't run on my machine (using Excel 5.0a)

We just got back on Saturday. We upgraded at guest relations at DTD with no problems. We had two 5 day hoppers (w/no exp.) that we bought at AAA at the discounted rate. We upgraded each ticket to 10 day, park hoppers, no expirations, for just over $100.00 each. So that breaks down to about $20.00 per day, and we were given the full rack rate credit for the tickets that we bought at a discounted rate. A pretty nice deal, we thought.

What can I say! I'm an admission junkie! :) You have an admission thread, I'm gonna post!!! :)

I can tell you that the information in the FAQ re: upgrading came from a Guest Relations CM.

In the same PM that the CM sent me those regulations, this person ALSO said that Guest Relations CMs have some leeway.

So if you need an upgrade, go in with a positive attitude, and the expectation that you if what you want goes against those guidelines, not getting it is what should happen, and getting it is a blessing. :)

Did your 5 day hoppers have any "used" days on them? And were they just park hoppers or park hopper pluses? ~:D~

We have 7 day hoppers plus that still have 4 park days and all the pluses left...What happens to the pluses if we upgrade?

The new plus options include Disney Quest and on the old hoppers Disney Quest was not included.... I am assuming we could not use the old tickets with plus options to get into Disney Quest , is that correct?

Thanks for the help on this on, I am still trying to decide if it would be worth the investment to upgrade and add some days for an upcoming trip.

Sorry about that. I will save it in a format that should work on older versions of Excel. Won't be able to do that until tonight. I'll post when it's done.

You are correct, the old PHP will not get you into Disney Quest. Your other question is answered in the MYW ticket FAQ thread at the top of the main page (it's on the 1st page of the thread). ~:D~

I exchanged 5 day PH for 10 day MYW tickets. I had 5 day PH with 4 days remaining that I had purchased from Disney with an advanced purchase discount. I was given dollar value for 4/5 of the advanced purchase price which I then used to purchase 10 day no expiration MYW ticket.

I know there was talk about it had to be the same type of ticket but my 5 day was a Park Hopper and I didn't have to add that to my 10 day MYW ticket.

SuzyQue, no they did not have any used days on them. We had bought them in Nov. for a trip that we had to cancel and reschedule. They were only park hoppers, no pluses. We got full value for exactly what they were, again, we bought them with AAA discount, so that in itself was a savings. Like I said we had no trouble upgrading them, I'm not sure if it was because we upgraded them to the exact same type of ticket or not, but we definately save money for our future visits. We used four days this trip and now have six more days to use that never expire.

We currently have 5 five day park hoppers with no exp. that I bought last Sept. with the military discount. No days have been used. We were thinking of upgrading them for this trip for another day but then decided we would just do a non park day. Well after reading some upgrading posts on another link...it seems we would be better off to trade them up ..pay the no exp. fee per ticket...which I believe is 35 right??? We could probaby pay very little extra per ticket and add days on for a future trip. We have 4 adult tickets and 1 child. HE is now 6 so if we go before he turns 9 in Dec. 2007.

What would you do.......figure out how much more it would be for however many days. I am sure it would be cheaper than coming in two years and buying another set of tickets for each of us for say 4 or 5 park days. RIGHT???

THanks

Denise

****UPDATED 1/25/2005****
I have updated the file format so that those using older versions of Excel can now open the file. Please post or PM me if there any problems.

Non-expiration on a 5 day ticket is $45 per ticket.

Disney's website still shows it as $35. Is it listed elsewhere for $45?

So you say you were given the "full rack rate credit for the tickets", was that advance purchase price ($272) or gate price ($280)?

I haven't crunched the numbers but I would guess you would be better off using them as-is, without trading up.

It would also depend on how many days your next vacation will consist of. It is tremendously disadvantageous to have to buy a one or two day ticket if the tickets you already have don't have enough days.

I'll have to go back and check my receipt to be sure, but I'm almost positive it was the gate price. As soon as I can do that I'll P/M you, it might not be for a day or two. When are you leaving?

Did the credit include the tax you paid?
