Good Morning Everyone! How are you all doing? I was so bad this morning - lost it completely but I do feel much better now and will just relax. I have one more to pack (all ready, just need to fold and put in the suitcase) and we are ready to go. Our weather for tomorrow's drive down to Flint doesn't look very good (freezing rain) but we will just go slow and easy and get there when we get there.

Everyone take care, safe travels and I will see you all in 3 days!

I just found out that I need to work until 1:30 on Friday - I had hoped to be outta here before noon. I will be so ready for vacation by the time this crazy week is over! Thankfully we're about a 5-hour drive from the Port, so even if we leave later than we had originally planned, it's no big deal. We'll still get on the ship on Saturday!

I think I'm a bit in denial that THIS is the WEEK we're LEAVING! :cool1:

We've waited for so long for this cruise and now it's nearly time.

For those who are staying at the Radisson, let's have a meet on Friday evening - say 'bout 9 p.m. at the pool (weather permitting??). What do y'all think?

I know my family won't be sleeping that early!!!!

Hi Cindy, :wave2:
Maybe your boss needs to find his Disney Christmas spirit!!!
At least you are close enough to still make it easily to the port.
i'll bet Nathan and Zachary will be full of energy all night long! :Pinkbounc
I know we will be here. My grandson (11) paces the floor and stares at the calendar and keeps saying, it's just too long to wait!!!!!! :hourglass
I agree with him completely. :flower:
See you on saturday,
kathy

Hello All! DH and I are going on our first Disney Cruise - Magic 12/17. Rest of our family left last night to do the theme parks before the cruise -- I am still stuck at work! Thank you everyone for all of your posts - we feel like we are completely ready for sailing with all the tips and recommendations that are posted. We even have our pirate costumes ready for pirate night! Can't believe we have waited a year for this and it is finally here! Can't wait!
Thanks!!

I'm glad I"m not the only one feeling "stuck" at work. For those anywhere in the state of Florida on Friday afternoon when you hear a big WHOOP!!! that will be me as I pull out of the parking garage at work!!!! :earboy2:

So I know some folks have left already.

Anyone planning to do a Live from the Magic thread on the Trip Reports forum while we're away? I love reading them.

Hi Everyone,
We're almost ready. I drive tomorrow from So. Calif to San Francisco (6-7 hrs) to meet with 2 of my grandkids. I pick them up from school on Fri then we'll pack together (hopefully no last minute shopping) and take the red eye to Florida. DD and family take the red eye Fri. from L.A. and we'll hook up at the airport Sat. Very early.
Today I'm shopping for the No. Cal kids - DS informed me that he forgot to buy them clothes for dining. It's okay - I forgot some things too!!
What is the weather like in Florida? It's sunny here but only low to mid 60's - I realize those of you from the cold weather areas laugh at me when I say I'm freezing here - but I am a warm weather person.
I look forward to meeting everyone at 3pm Sat.
Chris

Cindy, I am sorry that you have to work until 1:30 on Friday but just think what you will be doing at 1:30 on Saturday :cool1:

I am finally feeling better. After 10 days of the coughing and stuffy head crud and pink eye I am finally feeling better.

I am 2/3's packed. Thought we had another suitcase in the attic but of course not. I will have to borrow my moms tomorrow and then I will be done. All my DH has to do is pick out his shorts and a suit and he is done.

I almost forgot my signs. I just cleared my memory stick on my camera so we are good to go with that. I want to run to Lowes to get the green paint chips but I am not too sure if I will make it there or not. I am going to fill out our doc forms tonight and that should be it. I know I will forget something, it seems like I always do.

Oh well, I am off to play catch up on the boards

Hugs

Tami,
so happy to hear your feeling better at last. Looks like all the pixie dust has done it;s work. See you soon

Chris,
boy you have a busy schedule this week.
Thw weather here in Florida is cool at night, last night was 48 but sunny during the day and ranging from 65 to 70 during the day.
Chilly by Florida's standards. Chance of a few showers tomarrow, but no rain for saturday and close to 70.
Of course that could always xhange, but for now it all looks good for the sail away party.
See you soon,
Kathy

It's hard to pack late at night when your DH wants to sleep :) Poor DH - I had him go sleep in the playroom last night for a while so I could have clothes all over the bed to pack. I got DS#2's clothes packed, and DS#1's clothes identified as to what goes, what stays, and then decided I should probably get some sleep, too :) I was about to go wake DH up so he could go to bed when our Weather Alert radio went off - tornado watch for our area. That alarm is LOUD and scared the bejeezies out of me. Fortunately our weather hasn't been too bad - just rain in the early morning.

Anyway, I got up early this morning and got DS#1's clothes packed and all of my clothes that are ready to go are in my suitcase now - just have what I'm wearing today that I want to take with me, so I'll wash late tonight and shove it in the suitcase. Thank goodness for those space-saver bags - I'm not sure we'd be able to make it in our 2-per-person suitcase limit. The boys are in 3 between them - granted they aren't big suitcases and one is actually a duffel bag. That leaves their extra one for our miscellaneous stuff like the over-the-door-holder, sandals, sunscreen, etc.

Ok - so what are y'all planning to do after you get on the ship? I figure we'll go see where our stateroom is (even though it likely won't be ready??) and then go find the Lab for the kids (I registered them online but still need to pick up their pager, etc.). Then lunch - at Topsiders? or Parrot Cay? For you experienced cruisers, which is a better experience for a 1st timer? Any advice for things we should be sure to see / do / locate early on?

Snow is afalling, school has been cancelled for this afternoon--all here in VA. Doesn't that make great way to start a cruise on the Magic?? Can't think of a better way to start. Just praying that our DD's flight in from Austin, TX this afternoon is without problems.

Jim

Hey Cindy - what kind of space saver bags do you use - I have some that I vacuum out the air - which would work for going but don't know how to re-vacuum on the ship for returning???? I need something to help fit everything - or I'm just bringing too much!!!!

I'm about to leave for my drive to San Francisco - and I sure do empathize with Tami - my 5 yr. old grandson shared his cold w/me (of course he's over it by now!) - it's going to be a very very very long 6-7 hr. drive! BUT - I refuse to be sick for the cruise!

Hope everyone traveling by car will have good weather - DRiIVE SAFELY!!!!

I use the Coleman ones that I found in the camping aisle at Target. They have other brands, too - they are like huge ziplocs with a one-way air-escape in the bottom. Put your things in, ziploc it, and then roll it up to press the air out.

I've used them for traveling for a couple of years now and it really makes a difference. I've also had good experience with it not wrinkling what goes in. The Coleman ones have three-sizes in a pack. I generally use the large ones for me and DH and the medium for the kids, and then the small ones for underwear, etc.

Hi Cindy,
Usually when you board they will usher you to eat because the rooms arnt ready until 1:30 and they dont want people in the halls making it harder for the hosts to finish the rooms. We always go to the topsiders buffet because you have a great view and you can sit in or outside. when the weather is nice it's fun to sit outside and just take it all in. Then if it's not quite time to go to the rooms a lot of people let the kids change into bathing suits and play in the pools which are just outside of where the buffet is, also there are some tables by the pool areas and people serving drinks for those who want them. We just explore decks 9 and 10 so not to get in the way, then at 1:30 we go straight to our room and unpack our carry on bags, then off to explore the ship and check out the clubs. Also we take 10 minutes to look at the navigator in the room, it will tell you the time to go to the kids clubs for their bracelets and pagers, and all the upcoming events of the night. Sometimes we just go to deck 5 and look over at the atrium and watch people boarding the ship. It is a great way to watch for someone and it's fun to see the expressions on their faces as they board, you can tell who is getting on for the first time, it's really fun.
see everyone in 2 days,
safe travels to all,

Kathy - thanks for the info. Is there a place by the pool for the kids to change into their swimsuits? And am I understanding this right - that rooms aren't ready til 1:30? Which reminds me - I don't wear a watch and neither does DH -- are there clocks around the ship that we can see or will we have to be those annoying fellow-guests who are always looking at your arm to see what time it is? I love going to WDW because you can always find a clock - esp around the Fast Pass lines - but I didn't know about the ship. Of course this could be a good excuse to buy a new ::MickeyMo watch!

The boys are so excited - just one more 1/2 day of :teacher: and we go!

Cindy,
There are restroom between the mickey pool and the family pool. There are also bathroom just outside of topsiders buffet, right by the door to deck 9 where the pool is. We have seen some kids with their bathingsuits on under there clothes and as soon as they are done eating , off come the clothes and in they go! Also a lot of little ones change right by the pools, they are so excited to get in. Once I heard a mom say to her 3year old daughter, do you want to go in? She of course said yes, the mom said ok, I'll get your suit out of my bag and we will go and change. Her mom looked away for about 15 seconds to get her suit and by then she turned around to see her Naked daughter standing there!!! It was so cute!! Mom was so embarassed and the girl couldnt understand why???
No dressing room, just bathrooms, but htat works. During the cruise people change in their rooms, so no need of dressing rooms.
I just finished my pirate outfit 10 minutes ago, hope it works ok.
Tomarrow to pick up company and we're good to go!!!

I'm not sure about the clocks. The only ones I know for sure is in your room there is one that looks like a propeller.
I honestly don't remember seeing any clocks anywhere, but I do recall several people asking me what time it was.
Sounds like a good reason to buy yourself an early Christmas present!!!
Kathy

BON YOYAGE!

Y'all have a great cruise!

Cindy, we will be watching for the report of 80's night!

See ya real soon!

The packing is all done except for one last outfit in the dryer. Luggage tags are on, immigration forms are filled out (good thing i didn't throw them away thinking we weren't going to the Bahamas - LOL - I still laugh at myself for not even having a clue where Castaway Cay really is!!!), and everything around the house is done... except for getting the fish food cube which we forgot about til today -- don't want any dead fish when we get home!

I can't believe how easy it was to pack once we got started... thanks to the DIS boards! I'm sure we're over-packed, but hey, it's not like there's a Walmart on every corner :)

I so can't wait to meet everyone tomorrow and Saturday!

Kathy - thanks for the info about bathrooms. My boys are a little too old to change out on the deck - LOL - but when they were three and four, they'd have been nekkid too :)

I'm so excited!!!!!

Here's what I'm having for lunch on Saturday: :mickeybar

Tomorrow is Nathan's half-birthday (the 16th). What an awesome way to celebrate, eh?
