Has any1 ever stayed in the Nick hotel (holiday inn) while in disney? My kids saw an ad for the nick hotel and really want to try it out but i'm just worried it will take the effect of Disney away a little by not staying on the disney property. Is the nick hotel worht it? or do u prefer staying onsite? Thanks

I have never stayed there but did find the kid suite appealling - I found a comfort inn pretty close to downtown disney that has suites with a queen size bed and a partition with bunk beds and a single bed in the partition. We are staying in that type room for 2 nights prior to our Disney stay - we are going down early to visit my BF from HS (who my DH & I took to Vegas to get married and then BF & BFDH were in our wedding too) I don't think it would take away the magic - esp if you are visiting universal studios or sea world too. Plus it is whatever room works for your family.

We stayed here since my DH had enough points to get a free night. Let me just start by saying that if I had had to pay to stay here I would have been really mad!

This hotel is a Holiday Inn that was converted - or at least it feels like it. My DSs loved it because of the theming but it obviously needs some upkeep. The room we stayed in where they advertise free gaming systems, etc. was ok but the controller for the game system was broke. The bathroom didn't feel exactly clean. The HUGE arcade that they advertise is smaller than the one at Port Orleans Riverside. The food court was less than what we have come to expect at Disney also. Since the weather wasn't gorgeous, we didn't get to use the pools - and this also cut out a lot of what is the huge draw of the place. We left after our free night and moved to Port Orleans Riverside which was our original plan. We were really glad that we didn't opt to stay there for longer - going to Port Orleans felt like going home.

We stayed there when it was a Holiday Inn, for over a week, it was great. I also got a great rate at the time.

It changed to Nick Hotel, my DS wanted to go so bad, so when we went to Disney we stayed there 1 night - that was enough for me. They had to close the pool 2 times, because someone went to the bathroom in it! It was a zoo, never again!

It looks like fun, but I'll pass. I had much rather stay at a Disney Resort any day. ;)

We went, stayed, was ok - won't do it again. We got suckered into paying $50 extra for a "Dora" suite because my youngest, whose birthday we were celebrating, LOVES Dora. It was a room with a built-in bunk bed & a picture of Dora painted on the wall. I agree with one of the previous posters that the arcade was eh, it all needed a little upkeep, food was eh. And the worst part was the characters! they chose two characters to be out & about for the entire weekend & they were only out for a limited time. Luckily Dora was one of the characters being featured during the weekend we were there. The pool was ok but chaotic. We enjoyed the poolside movie. We were there for 2 days, went to the character breakfast which was harried,, over priced & they shove you out the door. then we went onto Disney, whew! been there, done that, not going back!

We're staying in Nov for 2 nights and I'm very excited. No way would I consider it or compare it to Disney - it's apples vs. oranges. We want to try it out and got a GREAT rate. I figure it'll be some great pools and a room with a kitchen, which we like on vacation. I'm not concerned about the food court - we'll be getting groceries - although we might get a pizza there one night or something.

I don't think I would pay for it if I was planning on going to go to the DIsney parks the whole time....most of the reason for staying there is to use their water facilities. You could easily find just as nice a room (ok- maybe without the themeing) for a lot cheaper and closer to WDW if you want to stay offiste. That's what we're doing - moving over to a Comfort Inn for a third of the price after the 2 nights there.

I'm looking forward to it though!

We stayed there (thanks to the bizillion commercials) :happytv: 3 nights before Disney cruise and 2 nights after. We took the auto train (leaves just outside of DC) down so we had our own transportation.

We had a blast. This was our first trip to DIsney- we leave on our second on SUnday!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: We said we wanted to try Disney resort next time but we did enjoy Nic Hotel.

It was freshly converted. The outdoor park type pool area was a blast. (DH and I are 2 overgrown kids) It was in September and they had free character buffets every morning (i think it was preschool month) It was nice to see all nick and disney characters in one trip. it kind of made it like two for one.

The suites were nice also. We got Spongebob before cruise and Fairly Oddparents after. Any time Mommy and Daddy get their own room on vacation it is a good thing.:rolleyes1

It is really close to Disney. I can not compare to Disney but we had an awesome time. Saving money this time staying at Disney with free dining before cruise and 40% off after cruise.  :yay:

It is a memory my children will never forget. Nor the big kids either.
