Any worthwhile room request for a CR garden wing standard view?

Is there anything worth even requesting if your booked category is garden wing standard view? I am thinking not, since they are pretty much all parking lot views, right? I was thinking we would just let it be. I sort of don't care if we get the parking lot view, since then the kids get to see the monorail. Or if that is the case, would it make sense to request a 3rd floor room to improve our "view" of the monorail?? We don't care about a balcony - in fact I prefer NOT having one because I don't want my kids on one - but maybe the slightly higher floor improves the monorail view? We have done theme park view from the tower, and I felt like ALL I could focus on was the parking lot ;) so I am sort of used to the parking lot view from CR. :) The fireworks were amazing, though!

Third floor near the main building would be my suggestions. The Monorails sweep by on the 5th floor into and out of the Tower and they are fun for children to watch and also for adults.

Requesting to be near the main building saves time and makes for a very quick walk to the Tower, pool area and the fastest route to the bus stop or the walkway to the MK.

I do love that walk to MK from the Contemporary! It is such a treat. So is seeing the monorail. You are absolutely right - it is fun for the kids AND the adults.

It really depends on your preferences. No matter where we are, we like higher floors, away from elevators. We've stayed standard view in CR GW twice and love that monorail view - it's so magical!

I would request a first floor room. That will make the walk to the lobby shorter: not having to deal with the elevator. We had a lovely first floor room with a very pleasant view out to the pool and lake.

Anyone know what rooms in the map are standard vs garden view for the Garden Wing rooms?

So we stayed in this room in 2019...room 6120...if I remember there were no balconies with the garden wing rooms so having this patio and having that path that will join up with the path to the MK was pretty sweet. We had a stroller and not having to manipulate it in an elevator was bonus. A little further away from the main building but not far to the pool...

I'd definitely request a lower room so you can have a patio - can't remember the exact number of our room but while we looked out on to the car park, we could still see some of the Happily Ever After fireworks from the room. Was lovely to sit on the patio with a drink and watch on the nights when we didn't want to walk into the park for them.

I tried ground floor once at BLT and now always request it.
My grandchildren love that room every year we return . It is “ home” and they believe we magically get that room every year and so I let them believe in Disney Magic.

Deciding between Standard and Garden View. In the standard view, was the monorail loud when it went by? If not, would be fun to see it from your room.

It's not loud, it's not a train. In the thousands of CR posts I've read, I don't think I ever heard anyone complain about the monorail sound, but I have heard lots of complaints about being located near Chef Mickey's.

Gary Stocker, thanks for the link and room example

Note that you will need to purchase a Touring Plans subscription in order to use that service. But it’s definitely worth it for the Lines app alone.

Also note that some of the room views and categories listed there can be outdated at times depending on the resort.

Touring Plans is great. I will subscribe when we hit the 1 year away mark. I think you can make room requests through them? We decided to book the Garden View, but good to know that monorail noise from the standard view rooms isn't an issue. Those would be fun.

OP ...curious what you requested? Our trip isn't for a bit but not sure whether to first request ground floor and then near main tower, or vice versa.

Yean, the Lines App is pretty incredible and really does help you plan your day based on expected crowds and wait times...and it has a Reservation finder/alert for ADRs. I try to maximize my time down at the World the one week I get to go each year/every other year. Lines has been a key tool for that..but like all plans sometimes they go off the rails. It is vacation after all.

You don’t need a subscription for the ADR finder.

To be absolutely clear: yes you can make room requests through TP but you need to have a subscription to do so. That will give you access to that service and the Lines app (which is crowdsourced wait times and great), as well as the computer generated plans (which I find useless). You do not need a subscription to use the ADR finder.

Also note that it’s what it says on the tin: a request. They do not guarantee you will get what you want. It’s worked more often than not for me, though.

Thanks. Our trip (I'm not OP) is August 2022...so will wait until August of this year...but will definitely subscribe. I did try it last summer for a short trip we had planned, but unfortunately that trip got cancelled. I also know that it's just a request...but no guarantee that it will be fulfilled. Doesn't hurt though to try.

I guess Touring plans has a direct connection with Disney if they are able to submit the room request on our behalf?

They don’t do anything you can’t do on your own, except they apparently have email addresses they send the request to that are not publicized. But it’s ultimately no different than you calling Disney yourself to have the request noted on your reservation, or having your TA do it if you use one. Requests are never guaranteed regardless of how you make them, that’s why they’re called requests.

I just like it because it’s convenient when combined with the room finder, but like I said take it all with a grain of salt.
