I love the Polynesian and would certainly buy if one is offered. I own at OKW and love it there as well. I heard rumors a while ago that DVC may be comming to the Polynesian. Anyone else hear anything?

DVC has made no official announcements about any new resorts other than the Villas at the Grand Floridian. Anything else at this point is only rumor.

It seems that the Poly rumors are as strong and verify able as they possibly could be. But then again there have been a few announced DVC resorts that never happened ( Eagle Pines...)

I was at the Doorway to Dreams in NY not too long ago and spoke to the guides there. I was told in not so many words that a POLY DVC was next to come. Don't know how accurate that info is, but personally I think it's going to happen.

though there one at FW was after the GF?

when the resort will be redone - starting in 2013 - Disney may put a DVC section in the Polyn. This is a big update - more like tear down and completely rebuild - it will take years - so not expecting a Polyn DVC until 2016 if then.

I doubt they would have GF and Poly for sale at the same time, so probably not until after GF is expected to sellout. I think no earlier than 2016 or 2017.

I think Poly DVC is eventually going to happen, but I agree that it will be after GF villas are close to seling out. We own at OKW and also love Poly, but I don't think we would buy there unless we win the lottery. I'm expecting it will be too expensive and require too many points per night for us to be willing/able to buy.

When the first shovel of dirt is moved...count forward about 30 months.

Without breaking a sweat I could name a dozen abandoned projects which were once rumored to be on the fast track. Poly will always be in the running since its one of the few deluxes without a DVC component. But when it comes to a $100+ million construction project, many hurdles must be overcome before approval is received.

As of now, the only thing we know is that there won't be a Poly DVC before 2015.

I hear stuff all the time.. but it is from DVC Disers who just want it to be.

It will happen, it will not happen while GF is for sale, and it will take a # of yrs to build. It will be demolished and rebuilt, and while building they need GF to hold the regulars from the Poly. It will be 1/2 built before they even admit the redo of the building will be a DVC, and I do not believe it will be next. I assume they need carry over of more than 1 resort. So they can keep selling GF, while adding say WL to it, (possibly somewhere else, like Yat Club or adding to OKW or something way in left field like a new one next to Blizzard Beach) and once they run out of GF the Poly won't be far behind. I think now that SSR is sold out, AK will be the next "sale" resort too. They have bunches of points in stock with high MF they are holding in stock. Maybe 99$ maybe a drop more.

Chances are i will buy into the Poly too.

:)Of all three monorail resorts, I like Poly best...I wonder how fast it would sell out?

depends upon the economy - BLT would have sold out faster in a better financial environment.

for me it depends on the views. blt has some great ones. if the DVC polyn goes where it was originally designed (which none have) - it would be near the valet parking - which to me is almost no view.

The Poly is one of the few resorts I would jump at the chance to own at. I won't be able too until 2024 when all my kids are done with college!:rotfl2:

I would think a DVC at the ploynesian would be the last one built. Its the one dvc that even people who hate DVC stated they would buy dvc there. I think Disney knows this too and will save it .

Is there room to expand there? The Poly seems to be one of the resorts that is often unavailable when I price out a CRO trip, GF always seemed to have rooms. If they're near occupancy, would it be prudent for them to convert an existing building(s) to DVC?:confused3

I agree Pat.

And I wasn't even thinking about valet parking lot views with a Poly DVC. That would sort of ruin it for me---though I bet the themeing would be awesome. With BLT it's opposite. Themeing is nice for me---but nothing too special. It's the great views and easy walking to MK that is the real draw for me.

Yes and no.

The economy has more of an impact on selling prices than it does on sales volume. If the economy had been better in 2008 and 2009 DVC would have responded by charging more per point. That would have reigned in the volume while leading to better profit margins.

DVC had no interest in selling-out BLT in 6 months or 12 months or any of the other crazy timeframes which were floated 3-4 years ago. What they care about is maximizing profits. In a better economy we never would have seen BLT prices in the $90s. But it was always viewed as a project that would take 2.5 - 3 years to sell.
