I'm trying to figure out what days we will go to the parks on our trip, we will be there June 1-8 but are figureing travel days of the 1st and 8th. That leaves 2-6. We will only have 3 day tickets or 4 at the most if I can convince hubby to spring for the extra day. We are military and are using the 3 day tickets and free for hubby. We also are looking forward to some relaxing days just spent at the hotel just relaxing. But other than the 2nd, I don't know which days to hang at PP the hotel and which to spend at the parks.

**Also we are allowed to buy 5 of the military tickets under the deal, but only need 4 for myself and 3 kids. could we buy the 5th one and take turns using it? it is a 3 day ticket so you know me one day, a kid next? Don't know if its allowed or frowned on. Wouldn't want to do that, just in case some of us don't want to go to park and some do the next day.

Thanks

Right now, June hours/closures haven't been posted, so what we know is through CMs, leaks, reports, or updates from Disney employees. Fantasmic will unfortunately be down through then. We won't know about the new fireworks show until the end of ... um either this month or May, I can't remember. They're supposed to make an announcement then. I'm not sure about rides, though.

As far as your tickets question goes, DL does clearly state that the tickets are nontransferable and cannot be by more than one person. I understand your intentions, but that's definitely not advised.

bummer about the tickets, but I sort of figured.

thanks, also bummer about Fantasmic.

They had park hours for the days that I was making my PS dining reservations. You could ask about your days when you make yours, if you haven't already. If it makes you feel any better the WDW folks have the same issue with lack of hours when time to make dining reservations. I think that Disney just doesn't know this early anymore with the decrease in attendance and layoffs. I'm sure that you will have fun no matter what the hours are! :thumbsup2

But at WDW you can make ADRs 180 days in advance, right? At DL we can only make PS 60 days out. If the CMs know when we call to make PS, why can't they put the info on the calendar and maybe mark it as *tentative* so we know it's not guaranteed but that's what their intentions are? That seems so much better than what we have now which is nothing...

I think it makes more sense not to post anything rather than make a post, mark it tentative and then change it. Those who saw that temp schedule may get quite upset about any changes that are made. It is disappointing not having the schedule ready several months out but what can you do.

We called Disney Dinning with the same problem for the same week. They had the park hours. Early entry is Sat, Sun, Tues and Thursday. The Tuesday morning is 7:00 a.m. The park closes early for grad nights on Wednesday and Thursday. I was focused on breakfast so I can't recall the closing times. Our CM was very helpful.
See you at DL,

April 24th is a big announcement on new entertainment for the summer months. We expect that they will announce when Fantasmic! and Electrical Parade will start back up and when Remember Dreams Come True will end for the new Magical Fireworks show.

We are going to be there at the same time and are hoping for all of our old favorites to be shown. I have even emailed Disneyland to express my disappointment that Fantasmic!, Electrical Parade, and RDCT might not be shown while we were there. We are taking family members that have never been to DL or California and are spending alot of money for many major attractions not to be shown.

There is also a rumor that Parade of Dreams might come back to supplement the new Celebrate Parade which is getting lousy reviews.

Yeah, well I think that we are both right about what we think. It's all individual perceptions, and in the end we'll still have fun no matter what because we are Disney freaks... We're lucky because we'll be there the supposed 1st day that everything is scheduled to be up and running. I worry about my friends who try to make plans and who don't understand me when I try to explain that they need to plan ahead because of the crowds. Then when they come home whining about how horrible it was and everything was closed down and the lines were horrendous and they were getting run over by people in strollers or EVCs. And they think I'm a freak of nature because I  Disney and continue to go back for more of what they perceive to be punishment, not entertainment. I feel bad for them because they or their spouse hated it so they'll never go back again. :(

Complain on the Disboards?!:rotfl: Sounds like a plan to me! :goodvibes

See you at DL,
I'm not making any PS on my next trip, so I guess I'm out of luck. I'm trying to save money and pay everything cash, and eat very little in the parks so this is a budget trip for us.

I hope it's a good big announcement and not a bad one. Did Disney ever email you back with a response? They're not always good about that sort of thing.

Thanks, DSF

See you at DL,

Every source I've read say that there's only one grad night the first week of June - on Thursday, June 4. I hope that remains true, otherwise, my plans are sunk!

It is very disappointing that we might not have ANY of those as options that week. :-( We skipped F! last year because it was just too difficult to hit the trifecta in one night, thinking we'd get another chance soon ... nope, it'll be at least another year for us. (But gives us a reason to go back!)

See you at DL,

Okay, this is officially my last Disneyland trip ever! I am to the point where I am considering checking fares to Orlando...I'd rather get 4 or 5 full days of fun than pay for a vacation and get half days. Yes, the tickets there cost more, but there were days last summer when the parks were open for 18 hours!

Southwest has dropped their fares...but I know that the cheapie Movies rooms were gone a couple of months ago. I guess I need to check quickly.

It's obvious that Disney doesn't want anyone other than locals to to to Disneyland...if they did, they would let people know far in advance about dates that are affected by grad nites, etc. All I know is, Disney's secret keeping is taking a lot of the fun out of planning this vacation!

Well, in DL's defense, it is open until 9 p.m. on grad nights so it's not an extremely early closing (and, as I posted before, every indication I've seen says there is only one grad night that week). WDW has really been cutting back on hours too and some early summer nights end not too much later.

We fly out of Denver and we decided to switch our June trip to DLR because the airfare is $49 vs, $129 to Orlando (each way), but it's really a bummer that many of the big parades, F!, fireworks may not be happening ... I do have some regrets too!

ETA: I called DLR Dining and they confirmed that there is only one Grad Night the first week of June on Thursday, June 4. Hope that helps someone.

FWIW, since December 23, 2008, the reservation-window for ADRs at WDW has been 90 days in advance.

HTH :goodvibes

Wow, they must really be slow over there... Why else would they change it? In years past, if you waited until 90 days out you couldn't even get ADRs at some of their really popular restaurants.:scared:

Can I just chime in here and say that if you are coming from overseas, the lack of forward planning information is even more irritating! I am helping some friends for their first trip in May, and it really would have been helpful to know more opening times etc that just 6 weeks or so out. For overseas trips you tend to have more date flexibility, but only at the longer range - exactly whn there is no Dl info available

Planning our own trip for second week of June, and this time we will have some first timers with us....would really be nice to know if there will be any sort of night time entertainment. Currently it looks like there will be nothing doing, and whilst I'm sure April 24 will clarify things, it's just a bit late for us!

Actually at WDW the ADR window is now 90 days in advance. With a lot more choices and parks and activities to throw into the mix it is worse IMO that having to make PS at 60 days with the info from DL dining. Good luck with your planning!

Hooray! Thank you for that info! I just haven't had time to call, and was going by what I've seen here. I wasn't going to get grouchy about one day, but when someone posted that they were closing early 2 days in a row it really upset me!

We fly out of Denver, too, since Southwest doesn't fly out of the Springs. When I compared Frontier to Southwest the flights were about $200 more...and that was before the last time Southwest dropped their fares.

That said, when I booked a trip to WDW back in '99 I paid about $175 per person roundtrip from Kansas City...so the current fares are looking good to me.

We only do Disney when life throws me the opportunity. I wasn't expecting to be able to go this year, and when I realized we could they hadn't extended any of the big offers into summer yet. Plus, we wanted to do the beach one more time, and it's easier to do that in CA than in FL.

Hopefully by the time I can afford another Disney trip the economy will have turned around and they won't be planning day-by-day anymore!

I hear bad things about the new ADR online-system, but I understand why the did it. Supposedly they are trying to put a stop to people double and tripple booking meals. I haven't had reason to use the new system, but I heard it is supposed to prevent you from having more than one reservation for any given day and time.
