Any word on discounts this morning?

If they scrap APs imagine the amount of money Universal would make;) I have an AP for there too, and Seaworld. Much cheaper than Disney, more benefits than Disney. They could not afford to scrap APs.

We bought AP's in May with the intentions of using them for our DVC trips in May 03, Dec 03 & May 04 (one week earlier). We decided about a month ago to go Oct 1 to 6 after reading that the first MNSSHP is Oct 3, we would never have done that if we didn't have AP's. There was an airfare sale for $160 so I bought them. First time I ever booked air before room. I had hoped to get AP room rates. If I had known they weren't coming out, I probably would have thought twice about buying the air and may have just scrapped the whole thing by now.

Now that the "secret" of AP savings has become widely known, I think they are trying to discourage buying them except for Florida residents and push people into packages.

Whoa, team! Any possible reduction/elimination of AP discounts does NOT automatically mean the elimination of APs. AP discounts are NOT necessarily (and shouldn't be, IMHO) the primary motivation of most AP purchases. There are a lot of time-share folks around WDW, DVC and otherwise, as well as people who have no problem paying rack for on-site rooms who get benefits from an AP. Also, if you're looking to maximize your many-day/multiple-trip Disney value, an AP combined with off-site lodging is by far the lowest cost alternative (timeshares notwithstanding). AP discounts only benefit the subset of AP holders who 'must' stay on-site but won't pay rack.

As a side note, DW talked to CM Paulo to confirm that our final payment was all set (it is - woohoo). As they were waiting for the system to respond, I had her ask him if they were getting a lot of calls about AP rates. He laughed, and asked her if she was on the internet a lot. He then said that, yes, they were getting a lot of calls. He said that he's been at Reservations for years, and that there are a lot more people unhappy about the lack of AP rates than he can ever remember. He also said that the number of callers who are rude and abusive to CMs has increased, despite the fact that CMs are simply waiting for Marketing to make the decision. Finally, as of 12 noon EDT, no new AP rates were out.

I feel sorry for the cm's on the phones. They should have a website for AP holders and list when rates are available. That way everyone could just check the site rather than calling and calling and tying up the phone lines. They have a site for Florida AP holders but not everyone else.
