As many know, 2008 will be my first WDW marathon experience (but many prior WDW trips). I will be travelling solo, am participating in the Donald, and thinking about volunteering for the full on Sunday.

My departing flight is currently scheduled for early Sunday evening, but I am thinking about extending my stay until Monday to go to the Celebration and get the full weekend experience.

So, is the post-race celebration worth staying for and will other WISHers be there? Any additional info about the party would be appreciated.

We did not go to the celebration last year; we had our kiddos with us. This year we'll be kid-free but haven't really planned on the celebration. I would be interested in hearing from people who've been in the past!

Erica and I will do the WISH gathering and we were also thinking about using the free ticket to the big Marathoner's and friends bash at Pleasure island. It comes in the race packet. In 2006 we went and danced at the 8 track till the wee hours.

If anyone would be interested in an, after WISH celebration, adventure to pleasure island plese let us know. There is dancing, music, a Blues club, a comedy theater and more.

I think DW & I won't be there. The last 2 years of Goofy we have been hit pretty hard in the evening. After our stop at R&C after the marathon, we head back to our room and rest. I think we fell asleep very early.

On the other hand, I hear it is fun with everyone wearing their medals. I just wait until Monday to do this:)

Robert we will all be looped from the races and the um beverage break. But it will be so fun the spend the evening with friends. The memory will be worth prolonging our sleep for a few hours.

Thinking about it--if I have sitters lined up.

My past 2 events I have been unable to as I did Team in Training and we had a big party. No events for me this year.

I don't know, we might, but we'll have to see what kind of shape we are in, so to speak.

We are, however, planning on attending the Boardwalk breakfast. There is one on Monday, isn't there? I remember seeing the pictures from this year and I was so jealous, and annoyed that I made plans to fly out on Sunday. Not doing that this year! :goodvibes

I am thinking that Chad & I will probably do this this year.
Usually we have a little rugrat in tow. Not this year though!

And in 2005 we went solo, but hit the parks all day after the full. Then we tried to do PI with friends of our who were there also. We all practically fell asleep in the Adventurers Club! We had one drink, then went back to our rooms.

So, maybe we can stay up this time. We will not have park passes  , so we can nap & rest the afternoon away.

Oh buts it OK for you two to fall asleep over here! :upsidedow

What time is the post-marathon party? Last year my daughter was so wiped after the marathon, she could barely make it to dinner.....but then again it was that terribly hot day. Nancy and I (and families) will be dining at Ohanas at about 7pm. The party sounds like a great event, but I'm not sure I'll be up to it. Can't believe you had enough energy to dance into the wee hours, Dave! You definitely da man!

Lisa,
What party does TNT have and are you participating w/TNT in Jan. too?

Jeanne, Darlin, I would love to take credit for that but in all honesty it's my lady who is the fireball. I'm just her willing warrior who follows orders. You know the drill, if mamma want's to party then we party". It's ok though the memory is worth it.

It was fun watching the other marathoners trying to dance with stiff legs. Dance or not a drink or two with wonderful interesting friends is worth losing a couple of hours of sleep.

I hope we can set up something where we can all get together and share some good conversation. We are open to any suggestions. We have only been to the 8 Track, there is the House of Blues and the Comedy club and others.

We went to the post-race celebration last year, and REALLY enjoyed it. It was SO neat to see everyone one wearing their medals, enjoying adult beverages, finally relaxing and having a good time. It seemed like the perfect way to conclude the weekend. We didn't go to the awards celebration as it wasn't important to us, but we loved seeing everyone having a sweet ending to their weekend.

Kind of like having the Whiskey Chocolate Cake to wrap up a great meal at LeCellier.:cool1:

We have never eaten at the LeCellier, we didn't try to make reservations till the day before we wanted to and it was already full. Is it a good one?

Dave:hippie:

I can answer that one! It's been our favorite Disney restaurant for the past few years......and yes, it is hard to get a reservation. You can always walk up to the reception podium and ask if there is any availability. Sometimes if you go just as the restaurant is opening you can get lucky. It's always worth try.

what a coincidence....We have dinner reservations for LeCellier at 7:30 after the marathon....figured we eat, watch illuminations and then go to sleep!
