Help! An almost new, 256mb sd card (Sandisk.. ) crashed in the middle of MGM one day. Are there any digital/technical people out there that can offer me any advice?

This card has been downloaded to cd maybe twice, and the camera works fine with other cards. When I insert this card now, it says "No card", and when I insert it into a processing machine, it says "No files/directories found".

Please tell me there is some way to get my dd's first photos of Buzz and Woody off of there!! :(

Sorry, can't help...Never heard of this happening...:(

Do you have a card reader at home, or do you link your camera to your PC to download? You may be able to see what's on there with a reader, rather than your camera.
If you have a reader and it still doesn't work, I would try a computer shop, and have them download it; they are usually pretty good about finding "lost" info, and would have a better chance than a picture place. There are also some programs that claim to find lost data, but I'd bring it to the computer place first; they already have the software, and the equipment to use it.

Well, my camera is pretty new, so I just drug it out of the box and started using it! I haven't even tried the computer stuff yet! There is a sticker on the box that says, "free card reader", but I haven't noticed anything in the box. It's a Minolta Dimage Z1, if that means anything.

Great idea about the computer place! I'll see if I can find something around! Thanks! ::yes::

This is from www.simpletech.com's troubleshooting page. Their recovery utility might be worth a shot...

Q. I cannot read or transfer the photos or other data files on the card and I wish to recover these files?

A. If you have images or data files in the card which you cannot access and need to recover the photos on the card, you may wish to try a data recovery software such as photorescue. A free trial version of this program is available at http://www.simpletech.com/software/photorescue.php. After the files are recovered, you can format the card.
