Hello. I was wondering if there were any visually impaired Cast Members on this forum. I am visually impaired myself, not blind, just have trouble reading small print, and interested in a career at Disney. I am applying for my masters degree in hospitality and tourism management at the Rosen college in Orlando. I want to either work part time at Disney while I am in school or apply for full time after I’m finished. I would be interested to talk with CMs that are visually impaired to find out what you do at Disney, What Obstacles you may have encountered in your job, if any, and what you did to overcome them. You are more than welcome to PM me if you do not wish to post publicly.

All the best,

DG

I would hope so as Disney , normaly, does well with Title II.

Best of luck,
Alan

I am not a cast member myself, but i just wanted to share that on our last trip to disney i encountered 2 cast members with disabilities working at the beach club. one gentleman with cerebral palsy and one that was hearing impaired. now that i think of it, they were probably two of most friendly cast members that we encountered this past trip! (for some reason i think many others took extra cranky pills the week we were there or the heat was getting to them!!)

best of luck with your masters and with working at disney!

I know of at least one blind cast member who uses a service dog at MGM

You beat me to it! I was just going to mention him. I have no idea what his name is, but we saw him during our trip in February. He was running One Man's Dream at the time.

I've seen him as well, at One Man's Dream.

There is also a blind female CM at Epcot who uses a service dog as well. I'm not sure of her position. I have a friend who works in entertainment with a hearing dog. I wouldn't think you would have a problem getting a position with Disney. Since you are working towards a professional career vs. hourly role it should not be difficult for you to find a position in which you can work safely, etc. I think working part time would afford you the opportunity to make contacts and associations that would steer you in the right direction once you have your degree. Good luck!---Kathy
