We're having a hard time finding something for 5 people. We'd like to try the DVC
resorts but the prices for a 2 bedroom are astronomical. If the studios and 1 bedrooms both only hold 4 people, then why pay the difference in price?

Do you mean why pay the difference between a studio and a 1 bedroom-to get a kitchen, a separate bedroom with a king bed, a washer/dryer and more square feet.

Trust me......There is a HUGE difference between a studio and a one bedroom.

We are staying in a 1 bdr at VWL this year ... the kitchen and washer and dryer as well as the seperate bedroom played a big part in our descision:thumbsup2

I've actually wondered the same thing since you don't appear to get any more beds. I wish disney offered more rooms with more than 2 queens.

The new AKV will have a sleeper sofa, and sleeper chair, and sleep 5!!

What are the ages of your kids? If you youngest is under 3, they don't count toward the total in the resort.

Have you considered renting DVC points from someone? The going rate is $11-$12 per point and the DVC member can make the reservation for you and save you a bunch of money. Check out the rental board here:

Your other option is one of the Suites at All Star Music. I hear they are very nice!

yea - at present time that is the only one.

hopefully at one time they will put in the sleeper chairs at OKW. the other DVC resorts don't have enough room in the living rooms to do this (my opinion).

you might also consider the cabins at FW - they sleep 6.

at last resort there is the POR - AB rooms they sleep 5. this is the cheapest way. having say that I would preferred 2 rooms at a value - so you get 2 bathrooms. there is also the new All Star Music suites.

forgot - there is a studio.

BWV has a studio - it is called plus. it sleeps 5 - but in really it doesn't. the day bed is tiny - less than 5'.

I'm pretty sure that DVC members can book 5 people in a 1 bedroom, it's part of their timeshare agreement. If you go through Disney to book a unit, you don't have that option. You can however go over to the DVC Board here on the DIS and talk to some folks about renting points from an owner. I think that's the only way you get around the 4 person limit.

Yes, they do allow DVC members to book 5 into a 1 BR... but our agreement actually states that 4 is the limit. Member Services has, in a move that rubs some people the wrong way, unofficially upped the limit to 5 (though they will not provide bedding or an extra towel for #5). However, I don't believe people booking DVC villas via CRO can get past the limit of 4.

Thanks for the clarification Geoff. I knew it couldn't be done going through CRO, but if the OP were to rent points through an owner, that would be a way to get 5 in the 1 bedroom, correct?

That is correct.

hey it was through CRO that 5 in a 1-bedroom became acceptable.

DVC members reported it to MS and they say well we can't allow renter to have 5 and DVC members to only have 4.

CRO did it first for quite a while. Until there was enough proof for DVC members to do it too.

Pat, if I understand correctly there will be a sleeper chair in 1BRs in Jambo House, right? Those 1BRs aren't any larger than BWV, VWL, BCV or SSR. Perhaps eventually the other 1BRs will have sleeper chairs tooo? I do agree it would be very tight with both beds pulled out.

The one BRs in Kidani House will be larger although not as large as OKW.

So since that time, CRO has adjusted their occupancy limit back down to 4, but still allow 5 for bookings through member services. Sounds like the OP's best option then is to talk to an owner and find out the specifics on renting points.

I completely forgot that the first ones at Jambo house would be about the same size.

You are correct.

Now in the master bedroom there would be room. but not in the livingroom. Need to go see if LisaS layout included the furniture.

how about the studios? A friend who is an owner said they're allowed five in a studio if you bring a sleeping bag along.

BWV is the only I know allows this.
I assume that is only in the PLUS Studios.

BTW, here is a picture of the day bed (with a bunch of JUNK on it, LOL):

ETA: It was fine for my DD, but I wouldn't put an adult or tall teen on it.
