I am really wanting to have another baby, and I just found a doc. in our area that does the reversals.
I have heard that the longer it's been since the V the less chance you have of getting pregnant. It's been 5 years in April since DH had his.
Also is it true that a man can build antibodies against the little guys, and therefore never be able to produce them again? (hope I made sense there)

I would like to hear any success stories or even unsuccessful stories you may have or know someone.

Any prayers or pixie dust you could send our way about this would be great.

honestly-i commend you on a tremendous success if you've gotten your dh to even consider this. my dh has a vasectomy and any time he ever hears about the concept of a reversal he shudders and says that one time with needle and a scalple in that region was beyond sufficient.

even a man who has a vasectomy still produces sperm, it's just that 'the plumbing' is altered so that it does'nt mix with the semen and um....(family board so i must watch my wording) enter the firing chamber;) . sperm that's produced is simply reabsorbed into a man's body.

apparantly with the advent of microsurgery it's allot less complicated now to reverse and they've got a pretty good success rate (subsequent pregnancy wise).

i honestly don't know anyone whose done it. when dh had his done (he was 29) they told him to consider it permanant and if he had ANY thought of having children down the road he might want to consider having some of the 'boys' frozen.

best of luck.

My dh had a vr last February. His v was almost 5 years old. Unfortunately I still haven't gotten pregnant..the vr was successfull in that he has a normal sperm count. If you have any questions, feel free to pm me.

I would wonder the cost factor vs in vitro. Rather than a cosmetic surgery (reversal), cant they just "take some" of his stuff, and fertilize you? I always wondered about that..

I have a cousin, who got married to a guy that had a vasectomy, they had it reversed and it took about 2 years but they had a kid.

I have a friend who had a 10 year old vasectomy reversed. They have two kids now, so it does happen!

My brother had his reversed and it was at least 5-6 after the vasectomy. The reversal was successful and he had 2 more children with his second wife.

My husband had a vasectomy about 18 years ago and then had it reversed 13 years ago. We have two beautiful kids (almost 10 years old and 5 years old). We did not start trying right away after the reversal. He actually got it reversed right before we got married. I am his second wife. We did, however, get pregnant within a few months of trying, so it definitely worked great.
