Any Updates on Chef Mickey?? (Updated-Post 238)

This new Mickey is just a TEST for two weeks. I work there and it is not a definite change only a test.

That's great news!

We have decided to keep our reservations for CM for our first night. DS is disappointed but it is not a deal breaker for us though. I do hope with this "test" they realize that is the whole reason that people go there.

Have your management read the DIS boards for dissaproval. It isn't something that most like. We are paying to dine with a character and not stand in long park lines to see Mickey. Not another line. Also, I keep on saying if you reduce the price of those photos I guarantee you that you won't need to shred as many of them!

I emailed and complained. ITA, I hope the management gets the message that we don't like this, and I'm sure few will. It's like insult to injury-- they're taking the Mickey out of Chef Mickey's, and then they're charging a ridiculous amount for a picture after we wait in line after we've already waited for a table!

If I remember correctly, that's how much the packages cost at both OHana's and Tusker House. Pricey...for pictures that they're going to shred if not purchased :confused3

I know. We soooo have to find that shredder and "hang out" near the giant trash bin. When we were there in May, we bought the package. The only photos we bought all trip. I didn't even buy photopass this time. If I remember correctly, they will let you take a pic with your own camera. They have in the past, anyway.

I think for $30 or more per person, you should get the pics included with your meal. Even if it was just one, like a 5x7. Akerhaus has the right idea. And you get a "package" of pics....not just one. Delivered right to your table. No extra charge. Love it!

does anyone know if the pictures with Mickey can be put on the photopass?
Thanks! :)

Unless they're changing something specific to CM no, it can't unless you buy the photo first. That's the way it has been with the photos they take at the restaurants - the code to add it to photopass is printed on the photo itself (in the margin, IIRC) and they won't give you that code unless you buy the overpriced print.

Well this is very sad news. We will be there Oct 1,2010 and miss our annual CM picture with the plate, we have several up from previous yrs. I wish they would let us know these things, I could have booked it for later in our stay. I will boycott the photo now and certianly NOT buy it. I will also look on the bright side, I just saved $30 and will ask them to take a pic with my own camera. :goodvibes

Mixed emotions. I can wait in line to take a picture with Mickey at any park, so that is pretty sad to pay all that $ for buffet food, just to wait in a line. :sad2:

On the other hand my kids don't go there mainly for Mickey. The two olders like Goofy just as much and my dd - 3 WORSHIPS Minnie. Loves her. So as long as she visits the table we are still keeping our reservation. And I would never try to get someone to take a pic of my whole family with a character at the table, but if I stand in line to see Mickey? Sure, I'll as the CM to take a pic of all of us with the chef.

Thanks for letting us know. I will wait until reports trickle in a couple weeks from now then before doing anything about our CM ADR. Based on Disney's current philosophy about circulating characters, I still bet on it being a permanent change.

I saw on Twitter it was just a test - posted today....

The test @ Chef Mickey's with Mickey only up front taking photos is already over, Disney was unhappy with results. Mickey's roaming again.

Just saw this on another thread...

This news annoys me. What is Mickey wearing still the white chef coat? at least for 30 bucks he should be in the original red shorts.

Yes, he is still wearing his chef outfit for the posed picture.

Hmmmmm...I'm torn on this one. We have ADRs at CM on the 29th (Sept) and apparently will miss Mickey at our table, but I like the idea of a picture without other families in the background and dirty plates on the table. We will be happy to see Minnie as she is one of our faves. Can't change what Disney does for our trip so we'll go and enjoy...no sense in letting a Disney "experiment' ruin our meal.

We also have a late ressie time for breakfast so maybe the characters will hang out a little more?

According to this message on Twitter Chef Mickey's has ended having Mickey just standing in one area and making guests waiting in line to get a picture with him.

I've never been to WDW, and this is our 1st trip ever to WDW. I was disappointed to hear this news as Chef Mickey's was one of the places on our list to eat. How is the actual food?

DD is friends with Chef Mickey today and I'll see what she can confirm and will post later.

Oh I hope this is true - I want Mickey @ my table! please let us know :)

I do hope Mickey is visiting the tables again, We go there in 3 weeks. I dont mind buying the picture in front of the plate, we have one from most every year and its fun to look back on the kids growing up......and the years i needed a diet!
