This has been circulated around Philadelphia for a while, dating back to the original rumor that packaged the America Park with a DisneyQuest on the Delaware River waterfront. But another big hole in the Press Release is that Ed Rendell is now the Governor of PA in 93 was the Mayor of Philadelphia and was NEVER a "spokesman" for the Delaware River Port Authority, a member of their board of directors yes..... spokesman no. And really, if Disney was going to break into the Philadelphia area their first target would definitely be Sesame Place (owned by Busch Entertainment) considering InBevs attempts to sell and also Disney's numerous attempts to take that property over in the past, (I worked there for 5 years, at one point had started meeting with Disney Reps until Sesame Street Workshop backed out over legal pressure from Busch)
Also, DAK as a fourth gate made the most sense of all the ideas thrown around, building on the sucess of Lion King was natural but also Disney recieves MASSIVE grants and funding every year from the Federal Government and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums for the research they do there. That along with the Gate and tourist money the park brings in was enough to give DAK the edge over any other idea!
