I'll be quick.....

I am renting a car at my home airport (Manchester, NH - MHT) to drive to Providence, RI to catch a flight to Disney (we were unable to get a Friday evening/night flight from MHT that fit our schedule). We are not driving back to PVD, so I can't take my own car and don't really want to bother DH to drive us (DD and I) down (although he could in a pinch).

I knew that with the one-way drop off it would be a bit more $$, but considering I will only have the car for about 5 hours, it seems ridiculous to me that the cheapest price I've been able to find has been $58 (with Alamo through Costco).

Any tricks, clues, hints, or codes? Most car rental codes require an overnight stay, minimum number of days (3-5), or weekend stay. Economy car is just fine! I'm over 25 and don't need a second driver.

Thanks in advance for any help.....................P

That's not too bad of a price. Once you go past 2-3 hours they charge you a full day rental. Sounds like the 2 locations may be owned by Alamo (or the same franchisee) otherwise the charge would be much higher.

Apparently, you have no idea how low a rate that actually is. That is way less than a typical one-day weekday rental in that region, actually, and a multi-state one-way without a substantial drop-off charge is nearly unheard of.

Grab that $58 rate and thank your lucky stars.

Good rate, lock it! Have you stacked any coupon on top of the code? You can try to keep shopping, but it is a rate that will be tough to beat.

You could sign up for Alamo Insiders and see if you can save a few bucks. I think that price is pretty good for a different drop off location. I would book that first as you can always cancel.

Others have said it's a good rate, so book it. If it can be changed/cancelled, keep looking around for codes, etc.

Have you checked the price of picking it up the day before, so you can have fun in a different car for more hours? We like exploring different cars by doing that, so we never just rent something for 5 hours...we try to rent it so we can drop it off at about the 20 hour mark. :)

I'm sure that amount is less than a shuttle would be!

I would be thrilled with that price. Not sure how cheaply you think you can get, but that's a lot cheaper than a shared ride to the airport!! Parking would cost you more than that. I'm paying $75, shared shuttle, for us to get from central Mass home from Logan!!! 1/3 the distance!! Book it!!

For some perspective, I am was looking for a one way rental from Disney to Tampa so that we could change our flight to leave from Tampa and save some money. $178 was the best I could do:faint:. Of course that is ridiculous and I scrapped that idea.
Like the others said, book it, it's much less than you would pay for a shuttle:)
