We planted a 5ft white spruce tree a year ago. It barely grew at all in one year. This past spring, we learned that we likely need to raise the tree in the ground b/c we have clay soil. We did that and the tree turned a nicer green colour and started to grow. Now, it has turned a yellow/brown colour and I'm worried that it's dying. Any ideas on what we should do now??

you sure the leaves arent just changing color due to the fall?

Some of our trees in our yard are yellow/red/orange/brown and others are still bright green-...this is both maples, oaks, and a few others...

just a thought?

Thanks :), but our tree is coniferous so the needles shouldn't change colour. Thanks though!

It sounds like it's either dying or reacting to the chnage. Buy some stuff called "Hollytone" at a garden center and follwo the directions for feeding the tree...they go by size.

We had a camelia bush that was pooping out and the Hollytone saved it.

LOL I didnt even read what type of tree it was!...silly me! My spruce and pine tree's are coniferous too LOL

How dry is it where you are at? Temperature? I know that each time you transplant a tree/bush/shrub it suffers from shock. I have found that some coniferous trees do turn yellow and do shed some of their growth. But, my first thought when you said yellow was Lack of iron. We feed our trees iron on a pretty regular basis. We have sandy soil here. Do you have an extension office that you could call. Here in our county we have the county extension office that is manned by Kansas State University and they can answer many questions dealing with plants/trees/crops etc. I'm not sure you would have something like that there in your providence.
