I just booked a cruise from San Diego for next April and plan to go to Disneyland for 2 days before the cruise. is there any transportation from Disneyland hotels to the port like in Orlando?

I guess a rental car it is...tried to make it easier, but I know it would be cheaper to do that anyways! Thanks PrincessShmoo

We took the train back home to Orange County after our cruise that ended in San Diego. The train station is only about 3 blocks from the port.

We were going to book the train when we took our last Baja cruise on DCL, but that day they were working on the tracks that day and we were going to be bused around it (1 1/2 hours on the bus :headache:). We opted to drive and park.

Rental car is not a bad idea for a San Diego cruise if you find the right price on a car and a good parking lot like one of the off site Airport lot or even the Wyndham. I mean it does give you access to things like the Safari Park and even the Botanical gardens.

My son and future daughter in law are renting a car, they are starting their honeymoon in LA, then going to San Diego for the 5 night cruise on the Wonder next month. I'm not sure if they looked at pricing yet. I know the closer you get to the time, sometimes the better price you get.

**Check all your options on rental cars, my husband and I are ending our cruise in Port Canaveral and need a rental to car to get back to Ft.Lauderdale.
I started looking online at Costco on Friday, I checked Enterprise first because they have the closest office to our home, they wanted $230 for a Toyota Camry (mid-size). I then called Budget, $60 for a mid-size plus one free upgrade level with Costco membership. HUGE difference, I grabbed it.

The train is a seriously good option. The tracks run along the coast and some of the views are amazing. When you are riding in the train, everyone can enjoy them. There is Disney's ART from the Hotel to the Anaheim Depot, which isn't far from the Hotel, but worth the shuttle ride. When you arrive in San Diego, the walk to the cruise terminal is very easy. You can see the port from the station and it really is only a few blocks.

If you have not taken the train recently, know that they do not operate like an airport terminal. It is much more convienient. They have a snack car on board too if you really get a hankering for something on the way there, but if you are going to the ship, I'd recommend waiting until you board to eat (as I'm sure you already know).

I love traveling by train and have taken several trips by train over the years, some a few days long and others less than an hour. Give it a look. I think you'll be surprised at how easy it is. No hassle about parking, rental car counters, etc.

We have done this same thing, and plan on DL before our DCL in October. You can catch ART (Anaheim Resort Transit) at the end of DL by Harbor St (where all the busses let the people on/off for DL). I'm not sure which #, but there are transit maps. Take the one to AMTRAK. Then catch the train to San Diego. Super easy, and no transfers if you get the right train. Inexpensive as well. Leave the SD train station, and head to the water. B Street Pier is right there, 2 blocks down, and 1 block to the right.

I know i could easily look, but how long is the train ride? My kids would probably like that...

Except if the OP is staying at the Disneyland Hotel, they have to drag all their luggage through Downtown Disney before they get to the transit buses. I'm not even sure security will allow you to go through with numerous suitcases like that.

I recommend taking a taxi or Uber/Lyft to the Anaheim Amtrak station instead of using ART.

2 hrs 12 min to 2 hrs 20 min depending on which time you leave. $28 for adult, $14 age 2-12

This is true. We do stay at the off properties, so ART picks us up at the door. I'm guessing DL Hotel doesn't have a shuttle to Amtrak like it does the airport?

We took a taxi from Disneyland Hotel to the Anaheim Amtrak station. The bill was about $15 with tip.

from the Anaheim station about 2 hours and 10 minutes (some might be up to 2 hours and 15 mintues), but you could also take the Metrolink which is the same thing if you can match the schedule. Metrolink OC line or IE/OC line works but I would go Amtrak as you do not have to transfer at Oceanside to ride the coaster. Both Amtrak and Metrolink have family style seating which is kind of nice. If you side on a good side you can see the ocean and it is nice. I definitely recommend the train.

Uber and Lyft are another option as you can get a larger family sized vehicle and it does not cost as much as a Taxi if you want to get to the Anaheim station. ARTIC (Anaheim Station) is really nice and services both Metrolink and Amtrak along with ART and the OCTA bus system.

Kind of a stupid question- but I’m assuming then you can bring luggage on ART? Like we aren’t going to look like crazy people rolling down the sidewalk to the esplanade with our suitcases right? We need to get from the courtyard theme park entrance to the Amtrak station as my 3 year old is obsessed with trains. Getting their is a pickle without a car seat (unless ART is a good option fingers crossed)
