Any Toyota Corolla owners out there?

I'm thinking of buying a new car and I'm leaning towards the Corolla. I need opinions...good and bad. Thanks! :D

I have a Corolla and love it, actually I've had 3 of them!

Currently I have an '04, before that a '00 and a few cars before that a '94.

My '04 came standard with lots of features including a CD player.

Good luck to you!!

Corollas are great. My first car was a '78 Toyota Corolla. It was old when I got it. Traded it for a '92 that we still own.

Toyota cars are very reliable. I like the dependability and have only owned Toyotas.

You will find the Corolla to have great gas mileage and with recommended maintance it will be a reliable car you can easily get 200,000+ miles out of. Newer Corollas have more interior room than my '92. Unless you need to drive more than 4 people around regularly, Corollas are perfect cars. I like the size of the vehicle since you can navigate it easily in traffic and it is easy to park.

Being a company man I am partial to Toyotas and specifically the Corolla. DW drives a 2002 and we both love it. Even my mother, who has this thing for Mustangs (mid-life crisis I suspect lol), loved driving our Corolla while we were at WDW. It is also the #1 selling car of all time.

Just stick to your maintenance schedule and you can drive this thing forever. You will not be disappointed if you buy a Corolla (Boy, do I sound like a salesman or what? lol)

I've never owned a Corrola, but my parents owned a Camry for 15 + years. I can say that Toyotas are really dependable cars.

I loved mine and would still have it if I hadn't lost my heart  to the Toyota RAV4.....which is basically a Corolla with a little height!

Thanks to all who replied...one more question...I have never bought a new car. Did you all buy yours new or used? With the 0% interest financing, that our local dealership is offering, it may be cheaper to buy a new one, but I'm not sure how much they depreciate when you drive them off the lot. I think I have more homework to do before I go shopping.

My DH bought his Toyota Corolla in 1988. The man absolutely loved his car! He had to part ways with it in 2003 when he purchased "EEP" his Jeep Liberty. The man cried and I had to take several pics of him and "ROLLA" before he traded it in. That 1988 Corolla held up really well, when it was all clean and waxed it looked new. I have to say that the Corolla lasted a long time, geeze 15 years with the same car. In the end though it started going downhill and it had to be replaced.

I would definately recommend a Corolla just because it had so much durability even at 180,000 miles . . .:earseek:

I owned a 1983 Toyota Corolla SR5 for 15 years and 140K miles. It was the best car I ever had, and if my DH wasn't so darn tall(he used to have to open the sunroof to drive it!) I'd buy another one in a heartbeat!

That car was never in a garage, I live in CT. In the winter, no matter how cold it was outside, I'd go out in the AM, turn the key, and that car started. It wasn't great in the snow (no FWD), but great gas mileage. I had 7 or 8 accidents in the car, and kept getting it fixed. It took a licking. I cried the day I got rid of it.

Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh what a feeling to drive - TOYOTA!!! I absolutely loved my '88 Corolla (AKA "Smitty Smit"). I had it for 12 years and put over 250,000 miles on it. It took me all the way up to Canada and down to Atlanta from PA. I always got the required maintenance (at the dealership) and never did it leave me stranded. I miss that good old car:( Got a Camry as well and got DH hooked on Toyotas after that. I bought my Corolla new and leased the Camry.

We have a 98 Corolla. It is our second Toyota, and we'll probably buy another in a year or so. It's a very reliable car. We purchased it new, which seems to make sense if you like to hang on to a car for many years.

Another slant on same theme:
I absolutely loved both Corolla's I owned.
The slant is the safety. I was in a bad wreck in March in my Corolla. Hit multiple times. I ended up w/ a HUGE bruise where my seatbelt held me so tight and that, besides being very sore, the only injury I sustained. I got so sick of people acting better because their more expensive, bigger cars were safer. That was proven again that bigger is not better when I had a blowout on the highway going 65 mph in my Corolla. The car was easy to control and I safely got to the shoulder. A week later a friend at work had a blowout in her Excursion and immediately shot across 6 lanes of traffic and into incoming traffic. Her car was completely unmanageable. She also had her 4 year old DS in the car when this happened. Thankfully no one hit them.
I am starting car shopping again and am leaning toward the Camry. It has the advantage of letting 2 car seats and another person in the backseat. No can do w/ Corolla.
You won't do wrong w/ a Corolla!

I have a 99 Corolla (bought it new) and love it. I haven't had any problems with it so far. In a couple of years we'll be getting me a new car...I need something with more room since we have DS now and his car seat is huge! It fits fine in the backseat...we have a Britax Marathon carseat...it's big, especially facing backwards...but it fits in the Corolla! Our family is growing now so it makes sense to get a bigger vehicle...that's really the only reason I'll be getting a new car...and it'll be a Toyota. DH drives a Solora.

We have been an all-Toyota family since 1980. All were purchased new, and we owned, at most, three at any given time.

1980 Corolla hatchback
1983 Corolla SR-5 hatchback
1985 Pickup
1986 Camry LE sedan
1987 Corolla sedan (sold at 150K miles - still see it around town)
1991 Camry LE sedan
1994 Camry LE sedan
1997 Camry XLE sedan
2003 Camry XLE sedan

My mother bought, used, a 1986 Corolla hatchback. It was the most dependable car she ever owned.

We loved our Corollas; they could and would drive through anything. We upgraded to Camry for the space. We were commuting long distances to work and to our vacation home. The new Corollas that we see on the road are definitely roomier than the older models. If we decide to downsize one of our cars we will choose either a Corolla or a Prius.

We currently own the 1997 and 2003 Camrys. The auto writer for The Boston Globe calls the Camry a boring car because you never get to meet that nice tow truck driver on the interstate. You have to either sell them or shoot them - they never die.

Our last Camry was purchased online and telephone with a local dealership. They delivered it to our door; we never set foot in the showroom, but we did our homework first.

Thanks for the replies! Since this will be my car and I'm usually the only one in it (my kids are 23 & 21 and don't usually go out with me!) I don't need a bigger car. On the rare occassions we all do go out, we take my husband's Explorer.
