Any tours for young children?

Are there any tours that my young children would enjoy (with DH & I)? I definitely don't want to ruin any of the magic for them (so no "backstage" tours) but I'd almost like to change up our Disney park-style of just going in & doing the attractions....

DH & I haven't done any tours yet, but on our first ever trip without the kids (who knows when) we plan on it!

Thanks for any info. :wave2:

Here are some listed in the passporter for all ages, meaning all the tour is "on stage" no backstage stuff :

Family Magic Tour - 2 hr. adventure through MK in company of a villian to solve a mystery. 10am, park admission required, $25

Welcome to the Magic Kingdom - 90-min. walking tour, 9:30 Sun-Wed and Fri, 8:30 on Thurs. kids under 10 are free, others $20

Ages 10&up, Magic Behind our Steam Trains - $40, look at railroad of MK, join opening crew, view roundhouse, backstage peek, held on Mon, Tues, Thurs, Sat 7:30-9:45 park admission required

Ages 8 & up Epcot Aqua Seas Tour - 2 and half hour scuba assisted snorkel dive in Living Seas, equipment and instructions provided, do not need to be scuba certified, Held daily at 12:30, $100, bakstage peek, ages 8-17 must be accompanied by an adult

There are also various children only tours, and all the other tours are 16 and up (except Wild by Design in AK that is 14 and up)

You didn't mention (or did I miss it?) how old the children were.... but a good suggestion might be the Family Magic Tour. :flower:

Sorry! During our next trip in December 2005, they will be: DD6 1/2 and DS 4.

Also - how early do we need to make ressies for the tours (is it 90 days like the PS's?)

Thanks for the help!

Not sure the exact number of days for the Family Magic Tour but I know it's greater than 90 days as I made my reservation before my 90 day mark.

You pay for tours over the phone when you book, so they are probably similar to special event tickets and there is a certain time they come available, I just don't know what that time is.

I highly recommend the Family Magic Tour...especially for your children's ages!!! We did on our last trip and our kids (5 and 2) loved it!!! I don't want to ruin it...but basically you are given the task of finding something that belongs to one of the characters and you go on a scavenger hunt through the MK. You get front of the line access to many rides and meet up with characters at the end. Peter Pan and Wendy met up with our group and viewed Mickey's Philharmagic with us (DS 5 sat next to Peter Pan during it....you can't imagine how happy he was).

It was a great time and worth every penny. We will definately do again in the future. We did make our PS 90 days in advance, but I can't remember if it is only offered on certain days or not!

Have a blast with whatever you choose!

I'm so glad I read this thread! I was thinking it was 90 days out to book this and so I was waiting until March to call and book it. I had no idea it might be earlier than that -that you can start booking it! I need to call tomorrow (unless they take PS and such this late? I don't know...) because I wanted to do this (for the first time) with my kids on my daughter's birthday while there!

thanks for all of your responses! That gives us some things to consider!!

I just booked the Family Magic Tour for May - it is $25 a person however if you have AAA you can get 15% off or if you use a Disney VIsa you can get 20% off. :cool1:

My family and another Dis family attended the Family Magic Tour last year. We had a wonderful time. I wrote about it in length (including links to many photos) in my trip report last year: click here. Just look for the post on that page that is entitled, "Day 2: Grand Floridian (Part 2)."

Thank you so much. I really enjoyed reading your report. The Family Magic Tour sounds like just the thing for us.

Only one question....do you think younger kids would need a stroller? And is it possible to do the tour with a stroller? (or would they constantly be in & out of the stroller?)

Thanks again...what great details! :wave2:

One of the parents had a theme park stroller with them on the tour; however, I just took a look through my photos and that stroller is empty in every shot that I have. The tour really did a great job with involving the children and keeping their interest.
