We got back from Disney Sept.29. We had and awesome time!!! I was a VERY prepared theme-park trekker (thanks to the DISboards!!!). However, on our 1st night in the park I decided not to bring the big backpack. Goin' light - you know....? In my backpack was my Dollar Tree rain ponchos 2 for $1. When it started to downpour 20 minutes after arriving in the Magic Kingdom I thought to myself 'gee, shoulda brought the backpack'. Well, the bottom line is I had to break down and purchase 4 WDW poncho's. $ 30 DOLLARS LATER.

I am now home and trying to protect my investment!!

I am looking for tips on how to store the ponchos correctly so I can reuse them in the future.
I recall some saying that they stored their ponchos (they thought they did good) and when they went to use them again the plastic was melted together in certain spots and there was some other issue as well.
Or is it just as simple as making sure they are dry and folded correctly?

Once I dried my ponchos, I keep them in my overnight bag..I know it may sound silly, but I can't tell you how often I needed it when I have gone somewhere. Not so neccasarily to where but to sit on if it has rained..I don't leave on a short or long trip without it:) I have had mine for years and it's ok.
Good luck:)

How funny!!! I keep ours in my carryon/overnight bag too. We've had the same ones for years and after drying, I just fold them flat into fairly small squares and store them in that bag. We've used them for many trips in addition to WDW trips.

We dry ours and store each one seperately in a zip lock bag. That way everyone has their own packed in their fanny pack/back pack when the need it next time.

Thank you for sharing!
I guess just making sure they are dried and folded properly should do it!
Thanks again for helping me out! :thumbsup2

I hang mine in the closet between trips.

I have stored it rolled up in the past, and that works fine as long as it's completely dry first; if you roll it up even slightly damp, it can develop mold and mildew.

I've never heard of Mickey ponchos melting together in storage, but they are made from a pretty thin vinyl and can melt if stored next to a heat source.

Hanging them sound like a great idea!!

After I wrote about the melting together - I thought it sounded a bit odd!

But I remember a poster saying that in a section or 2 it stuck together and she recommended dusting them with baby powder (??) :confused3

my brain doesn't always work as well as I would like so maybe the post never existed?
Luckily for me, my dh understands my scrambled brain! :rotfl:

Hi
I had some ponchos from my 2001 trip. They didn't smell too good, so I washed them in the washer and even dried them. (I didn't leave them too long in the dryer.) Then I just folded them and put them in ziplock bags. They looked and smelled great.

If I hung mine up, I would forget about it and leave it at home. As soon as mine was dry, I folded it up and put it in the small zipperd section on the front of my suitcase. Then I know it will make it to WDW.
