Hi everyone

I'm completely new to all this but want to try and put together a scrapbook of our last couple of trips to WDW. Trouble is, I have absolutely no idea where/how to get started?

Am I better off buying some kind of 'kit' or just different pages and embellishments as I go along? What's the best way to start - do I need to sort out what I want on a page before I think about the kind of paper I need?

Also, is there anywhere that has the meanings of certain words I keep seeing like 'swaps', 'bazzill', 'circle journal' etc. Presumably, these are used on the DIS but I have no idea what any of them are/mean :confused3

As you can see, I'm totally clueless and would be grateful for any advice at all :)

Thanks in advance.

First off, welcome to the wonderful world of scrapbooking! Hold on to your wallet and check book, it's going to be an expensive ride. :teeth:

First I will answer some of the scrap lingo for you.

Swap- You and others sign up to participate. You make a project for everyone in your group. If there are 10 of you then you make 10 items. You then mail all 10 to the hostess who will divide all the items and send them back to you. What you receive is one from each person in your group including one that you did.

Bazzill- A specific brand of cardstock with lots of colors. It is not available everywhere but can easily be found online. Bazzill has a texture to it. Some people like it while others don't, just a personal preference.

Circle journal- I am not really familiar with circle journals(cj) but from what I understand is you pick a topic, for example WDW rides. You make a sign in page for the other members of your group. You make a page of your favorite and mail the journal to the next person on the group. They make their page and send it to the next person. On it goes until everyone has done a page and it is returned to you.

As for getting started there is a lot you can do. The best place to start is sorting your pictures to see what you have. I would recommend a beginners class if you can find one and also pick up some scrapbook magazines. One popular web site that I like is www.twopeasinabucket.com

Look in the peanut gallery which is divided into categories, this will also help get an idea of what you like style wise.

The most important advice I can give is to enjoy the process and the outcome. Don't stress over getting it done quickly. As my DH says I don't ever want to hear finished and scrapbook in the same sentence because it will never happen! :rotfl2:

HTH!!!
