Even though we love DVC, are there any other timeshare deals that we can latch on to to extend our stay next year? We were able to schedule a Marriott stay at HHI at the end of our trip to OKW at the end of this month. I am thinking of some company other than the Westgate Resort (bad press).
Might you expand your question a bit? Are you looking for ways to rent added nights/weeks to your Orlando vacations ... or are you seeking suggestions for buying at a nonDVC timeshare?
If renting: Consider checking out the week available through SkyAuction.com, the classifieds section of the Timeshare User's Group (TUG), or perhaps even joining RCI for access to Getaway Weeks.
If buying: Tell us more of your wishlist. Where would you like to go? What season? How often to visit vs trade? How many in the family and what are their ages/interests? Anticipated budget for purchase and annual fees? (...)

I assume you're talking about the deals to stay and do the tour. It's certainly not something I'd feel comfortable doing SOLELY for the purpose of getting the cheap nights. Besides, do you want to do the tour, it can be quite an aggravation.
Can we (DVC Members) Join RCI for the getaway weekends without having another timeshare that uses RCI. I would be interested in the getaway weeks? can you email me with details.
thanks

I'll try to PM and/or email this as well ... but for more info, check the thread titled, "RCI Membership - No Timeshare" on the Timeshare User's Group (TUG) site. It talks about a limited membership providing a subscription to RCI's Endless Vacation magazine (monthly), Bonus Vacations and Rental weeks.

A couple of year ago the answer was no, there have been some recent reports of limited membership as noted. Still, might as well buy a cheap timeshare if you plan to belong and use the benefits. Otherwise, the rentals can be found elsewhere, likely cheaper in the long run.
