While I typically claim to know a thing or 2 about WDW, I've never had to consider the mindless ticket options before. I've always purchased what I've needed in the past, and that was the end of that.

However, I'm in unfamiliar territory...!

Here's the scenario.

I currently have a 5 day base ticket. (Never been used-was given to me as a gift.) I am taking a trip next week where I will use 3 of the days.

I will be taking at least one more trip this year(as my brother now lives in Orlando), possibly even two trips(for an undetermined amount of days).

I'm thinking that adding the no-expiration option to my current ticket, as well as adding 5 more days(for future trips) would be the best way to go? That's the only way I can figure that I won't lose my 2 days.

Thanks in advance!

I'm no expert either, we always go @ one week a year and do the MYW package with tickets and dining, but I do know to add the no expiration seemed awfully expensive last time I looked. You might price it out and weigh it against upgrading your 5 day pass to an annual pass, if you are going a couple more times in the calendar year it might be worth it. And you might even be able to squeeze in even another trip since the tix will be covered! :thumbsup2

Yep! Also, you can add the water parks &more option for about $50 and you get 10 days of visits to water parkw or Disney Quest which never expire, even after the 10 days of park tickets are used.

Quite honestly, since you do have at least one other trip planned and a second one a possibility, an AP just may be the way to go. I think they're good for 1 year from the date you get it so you'd be covered for trips til the end of next February, if not mid-March!

If your next trip is for 7 or fewer days, then upgrading the remains of this ticket to cover that next trip in its entirety, adding non-expiration, is a good idea.

Impossible for even a person with a Ph.D. from the Disney Institute to pick the best ticketing option for a third trip until after you selected the dates for that third trip.

If you let the last two days of your 5-day go to waste, you are out only ten dollars not counting how much you would have to spend to buy your next ticket.

Whatever you do, make sure to use the ticket in a turnstyle before you try to upgrade it. Once it has been used/activated you will get the CURRENT pricing applied to the new upgraded price and not the price of the ticket when it was purchased. You can do it the same day that you use it the first time.

You have a 5-day base ticket which is worth $242. A non-expiry 5-day base would cost $320, so you would pay $78 more to use the tickets for the last two days.

You may want to look here: http://allears.net/pl/ticketchart.htm#MYW2 for pricing to see if you want to also upgrade to a longer pass while you are at it.

So if I am understanding this correctly, this fall I have a package with 8 day MYW PH and the value listed on the page you linked to is $307.79, so if I enter the gates at Magic Kingdom the first day, go to guest Services before I leave and tell them I want to upgrade to an annual pass, they will take my KTTW card and use the value of the 8 day MYW hopper and I will just owe the difference between the $307.79 value and the actual price of the annual pass which is $520.79. so I could upgrade to an annual pass for only $213.00 and use that to book my trip for summer 2011, and get the AP discounts, etc.? :confused3

Yup. Just make sure to upgrade within 14 days of the first use of the pass. Your AP will have the starting date of the first time you used your pass.

You wouldn't have to bother with using your ticket in a turnstile because your ticket will be current value (versus OP was given an unused 5 day ticket, we have no idea when it was purchased and may have been purchased at a lower cost).

Also, I would recommend getting the tickets separated from your KTTW card. I have heard some people had problems with their KTTW after they upgraded to an annual pass.

HTH! :wizard:

Thanks, that really does help! We are planning on going in summer in 2011, so an annual pass upgrade would probably be a good option for us! :)

I would go one step further and book the package with a 1-day basic pass and keep the money in my own bank account and in Disney's pocket.
