Any thoughts/guesses when AP crowds for DCA will settle down?

We leave for our DLR trip in 19 days :cool1: and I'm starting to wonder when the rush by APers to see Cars Land will peak and settle down. Although, with my luck the answer to that question is never.

The thing that is worrying me is all the time that is going to get wasted doing a baby swap. My 2yr old DS is not tall enough to ride, so someone will have to wait back with him and get the baby swap pass. I definitely plan on getting to DCA before opening and getting into the FP line as early as possible, but I will not have access to EE. Also, I've thought about those big enough to ride just all get in the single rider line but someone still has to hang back with DS.

If things settle before we get there, I think it will be more than manageable. Also, since the exact week we are going is the peak for ride rehabs, I'm hoping that scares away some people and the crowds will be even smaller.

I don't have a crystal ball, so I can't tell you for sure.
Expect it to be busy on the weekends. If it isn't, that is a bonus!

I just posted a report on our trip from yesterday and Sunday- these were the first 2 unblocked days. Crowds were light everywhere except Cars Land. The longest line we waited in was for Peter Pan (30 min) and FP Return for Radiator Springs Racers (30 min). Everything else (not in Cars Land) was 10-20 min or less wait. So plan on having a great time! Just get in line by 8 one morning for RSR FPs. Then, go do everything else in DCA during those morning hours while everyone else clamors for the CL rides. For the first time EVER, we got on Toy Story in 10 min. In the past it was never less than 40! Screamin' was a walk-on at 9 AM!

Actually Sunday was still blocked. I was following wait times yesterday and they were light in the morning and grew later on in the day, possibly as APers streamed in after work/school.

Toy Story Mania at WDW was still manic first thing in the morning when I visited last october and that has been open a long time. I expect RS will stay pretty hectic for quite a while yet, the fact that it seems to break down with even more regularity than Test track at Epcot used to means that the lines stay long.

Is there no way that you and your partner could take your little one in the single rider queue and speak to a CM and see if one of you can ride when you get to the head of the line whilst one waits then hand the little one over. Not quite a childswap should work but since it is so busy in the area it might be worth asking.

Remember that until the end of september hotel guests get early entry to CA every morning which means that FP run out very quickly as there is a big line even before the FP machines open.

Magic eight ball....bwahahahahahah :rotfl:

OP - I am going in less than two weeks :hyper: and also have 2 kids under 40 inches. I have EE and will be doing DCA on the Tues after Labor Day. That's usually the week the crowd levels drop, so I'll try to report back.

Our plan for RSR I think will be to get in and have one of us pick up fastpasses w/ the baby in the stroller while the other one rides Luigi's with DS3. We'll return to RSR later and do child swap with FP. I have to think that at least the FP return line will be manageable by then. If single rider is shorter then we'll go that route.

DCs will be entertained in the rest of Carsland while we take turns waiting/riding. I don't think bringing them in the line to wait for us to child swap is feasible. That would be complete torture to the 3 yo who's a big Cars fan, and we all know how vocal even the most well behaved 3 yo can be when disappointed.

All that said, I am resigned to the fact that we may not ride RSR this trip if the stars do not align properly. We have 4 days in the parks to do the rest of Carsland so I don't think it will ruin the vacation.

The rest of CA was certainly very quiet when we were there two weeks ago, everything else was practically walk on for the first two hours!
