Any teachers out there???

I'm a teacher and yes, let me tell u that candy, candles, and smelly soap are way overused . . . . the nicest gifts i have been given are books where a parent asks the child to draw and dictate what they liked best about my class. I've also gotten cards where the child watercolored on the front. And there's the ones where the parents collect money and give a gift certif. I always try to purchase something that would remind me of the class. I think there are wonderful ideas here . . . have fun shopping or creating!

Ditto about giftcards.....especially if they are just generic ones...like a Visa giftcard. I sometimes use them at "teacher stores" to get some special supplies or something. Or, there is always the option of using them for myself!!

I really enjoy personal cards or notes from families or students. If they are going to purchase something I do appreciate gift cards. I have limited space at home and school and it is sometimes difficult to find rooms for the decorative items that I receive. One of my favorite types of gift cards are the ones to a local teacher supply store. Then I get to shop for fun things for the classroom without feeling guilty about spending the money.

My DD attends a christian preschool. For her teacher, teachers aide, and school director I am going to get terra cotta pots and have DD decorate them as she wants to, then we're going to plant a nice flower in each one and I am going to print out daisies that say "Thanks for helping me grow" and put a picture of her in the center, glue them to small dowels and stick one in each pot - is that cheesy?
