My daughter will turn 18 while in WDW next year that is the whole purpose of this trip. I would like to do something special for her birthday while we are there. But since we have never been there not sure what all there is to do for a special birthday. Please send me any ideas. Thanks, Vicki

How about a Princess day...have breakfast at the castle then maybe some pampering at one of the Spas. Make sure you tell them it's her birthday when you make your reservations. Ask for a birthday button at the front desk ....sometimes you get magic....the least you get with the birthday button is a lot of great birthday wishes!

I did a Wishes cruise on a pontoon boat for my DH's birthday one year and it was really great. They picked us up right at the marina at Ft Wilderness, took us around Bay Lake and showed us some highlights, some we knew, some we didn't. Then they pull up in front of the Magic Kingdom and pipe the music into the boat while you watch Wishes from the water. It was just 3 of us on the boat, so it was a totally private viewing, we took some drinks (adult beverage type ), and they provide us with snacks - it's was worth the money IMO.

That sounds great. How long was the cruise? and how expansive?

They picked us up about 45 mins before Wishes, so total it was about an hour or so. It was pretty pricey, especially on top of vacation cost, but you can have up to 10 adults, or if it's a mix of adults and children I think they take up to 12. I think it was $275.00. You can also book the same type of cruise to see Illuminations at Epcot, but of course not as convenient if staying at the Campground as the one for Wishes.

They also decorate the boat with balloons and a birthday banner. If you REALLY want to go all-out you can order a birthday cake and have it delivered onto the boat prior to leaving. There is a whole section on these boards about birthday cakes as they have taken on a life of their own! LOL I didn't do the cake - he was much happier with a "beverage"

The birthday button is definitely a "must" - even if she thinks she will be embarrassed. I can't tell you how many people will wish her a happy birthday, not just castmembers. Plus, you just never know when the pixie dust will be sprinkled.

The Hoop De Doo dinner show at Fort Wilderness also has a part of the "show" where they recognize birthday's etc.
