This is our first time to Universal/IOA.
My DS4 lives and breathes Spiderman. We'd like to surprise him or make sure his time is extra special. Being we've never been, I'm finding it difficult to come up with something. Any ideas?

I'm aware of the Character Breakfast, but was told Spiderman might or might not be there.

Thanks everyone.

Maggie

The Character Breakfast has the Seussian characters.

To really get him excited for Spider-Man, use this trick: get to the park around 9a and LOOK AT YOUR MAP. On the map it will list two very important things:

1)the times of the Marvel character motorcade
2)the times that Spider-Man will be in the Alterniverse store (the big store on the right with the huge Wolverine outside). If you're there before 10, when Spider-Man first appears, you may be able to have several minutes of interaction with just your family and Spider-Man. Who knows, maybe Spidey will show your DS proper web slinging form! :p

Ran into Spiderman at Port of Entry Universal Store on Left hand side. No one there and got to interact with him.

Hope this Helps, Enjoy.

Tell your DS he's not alone, I've been known to chase the webbed one around myself.....<marquee>:charac4:  </marquee>

Assuming that he makes the height requirement for the Spiderman ride (40"), ask the attendant who is seating you in the cars if you can wait for a front row seat. You'll only have to let a car or two go by and he'll be able to see everything much better from the front row. As an adult, it really doesn't make any difference which of the three rows you sit in, but for a little guy it matters. My son just turned 11, but he's not very tall and we still ask for a front row seat so he can see everything.

Have a great time:charac4:

I will definitely use these tips for my DS-4 who is also a huge Spidey fan.

When my DH and I were at IOA without the kids, my DH decided not to ride Spider-man for a 2nd time with everyone else (his neck was bothering him). He waited outside the entrance and Spider-man came along. There weren't many people around, so DH got some great pictures which he showed us when we got off the ride.

Are you staying on site? If you are, call the concierge at the hotel and see if they can send something to the room like a themed spiderman basket. You would have to pay for it, but it would be a nice treat upon arrival.

As my DS would say; YOU ROCK! Thanks for the tips.

I can't wait to go! ahhhhh it's killing me. :bounce:

DM, could you please tell me a little bit about the motorcade? Thanks:sunny:
No.

:p

It happens several times per day-check on the map for specific times. Several of the Marvel superheroes come out on ATVs, drive around MSHI for a little bit, then park and have a meet & greet in the area across from Spider-Man, where the giant shards are. I don't know if they added any new characters, as I know Gambit & Cyclops were supposed to be added to the list. They already have Storm, Rogue, Wolverine, Spider-Man, and Captain America in it. :)

We took my son for his 5th birthday specifically to see Spiderman. He was (and still is) a HUGE fan. I agree with the others about interacting with him at the various Spidey locations. My ds was wearing his favorite Spiderman t-shirt and Spiderman autographed his shirt. My ds was thrilled! He posed for pics and gave him some tips on how to properly shoot webs etc.... So, my tip would be for your ds to wear Spidey attire whenever possible and to have Spiderman sign his shirt, hat whatever...

If you have an autograph book make sure your ds's name is visable so Spidey will know his name. Spiderman told my son he used his "spider senses" to get his name and ds bought it 100% - too funny!

It was also fun to interact with the Green Goblin during the motorcade session. He told us all sorts of stuff about Spidey and how he stole his water gun and how he took GG's roket away..... you should have seen all the little boys listening in amazement.

A few of the Spiderman's were really great and got into the role and a few others just posed and signed autographs. If you get a "lame" Spiderman the first few times just keep trying until you meet up with someone who gets into the role and will play a little with the kids. The good ones get a good sized audience and everyone gets into it.

Have a great time!
