HI, I am a former teacher. I taught 2 years and then stayed home for 5 to raise my kids. The oldest is in kindergarten and the youngest started all day preschool. I went through the process to become a sub in our school district. I have also been applying for instructional assistant positions (6 so far). I finally got an interview!!! It is tomorrow at noon. I need any tips or suggestions. I want to get this job so bad!!
Here is the job description: To work with handicapped, disability, or at-risk students in either a special class, resource room, or regular classroom setting, as needed and implement behavioral intervention programs as developed by the classroom teacher. Also, adapt materials/instructional resources as directed by classroom teacher; work with other specialists as prescribed; ability to take data and maintain records as required; follow Individualized Education Plan (IEP); foster communication among professional staff; provide student self-care needs, including personal hygiene, toileting, dressing, and feeding; provide health care as trained and directed; helps students participate in peer group activities; supervise non-classroom activities (arrival/departure, lunch, recess, field trips, library, computer lab, etc.); and other duties assigned to assist children as needed and directed. Candidate should have no restrictions on lifting 30lbs or less.
