Any Speculating When Cars Land Will Open?

We are going back to Disneyland this summer, around mid June, and really want to see all the new attractions like Cars Land. Anyone heard any rumors of when the Grand Opening or even a Soft Opening might be?

No I just think it's a good round number and Carsland could be ready in that amount of time.

If I was to guess people like CMs or APs will get soft openings starting on April 16th, just as Spring Break is over for most people.

Sounds good to me! I can't hardly wait to get some official dates. I'm waiting for offical opening dates for Cars Land for our summer trip and official opening dates for The Art of Animation Little Mermaid rooms at Disney World and official opening dates for the princess areas at Magic Kingdom for our December trip. Disney is killing me - announce some dates already! lol!

I hope there are soft openings in early June - that's when we will be there!

I can't wait! ... I want to go now.

Rumors are that CL will open sometime in June. And that would mean soft openings before most likely. Good luck.

Soooo Is there somewhere that explains 'soft openings'?

A soft opening is unannounced, the ride is suddenly open, though like noted above may be limited to certain people. The ride could open or close at any time.

so....I am thinking they will probably open up the actual land first early on and then open up each of the 3 rides for soft openings one by one?? I can't imagine it'd be easy to soft open the whole land! lol I am crossing my fingers at least the land itself will be opened to get to walk around for our trip coming up April 30th-May5th! Then again...I'm not sure if I do actually want it to be open afterall. lol I am sure if anything does open up it will probably all-of-a-sudden get reeeeally busy with people rushing there to check it out, huh? Hey, you people in the "know" ;) , what do you think are the chances of getting to see something during the late April-early May time-frame? :D

50%-%90 That's a lot of weekdays when soft opening are more likely that you are going over.

I do suspect when it happens they won't let anyone and everyone in. It would probably work by letting people in who happen to walk up and speak to a CM near one of the three entrances. Then people trickle in. An hour later a thousand people show up on thier lunch break because they heard about it being open through a social network.

It's likely to be one ride at a time and midday. Soft openings can be used for a variety of reasons. It's usually to see how something works in the real world and let CMs train in it. Then to promote through word of mouth excitement.

The cultural rule is that Cast Members get first dibs at going on new rides before anyone else. So CM previews would come first. April? Maybe. May? Highly likely.

If there is time in the schedule DLR will offer AP holder previews - sometimes by lottery. This gets all the die hards in early and takes stress off crowds when the ride actually opens.

Then there are often soft openings for regular guests. These can go on for a few days or even weeks and sometimes months. They are unannounced.

All of these are to help get the kinks out of the rides and get ride operators trained.

Thank you both Skiingfast and hydroguy :worship: , you "people in the know", for your infinite wisdom in all things Disney! ;) I guess we shall just see what happens! It sounds like even if it did get really crowded, Disneyland park would probably not, and maybe not even other parts of DCA since AP people would be rushing there for the sole purpose of seeing carsland. :) I'm choosing not to worry about it! lol
