Any special events or large groups in April or May?

I'm hoping someone can help me find an uncrowded time to go to WDW.

We were tring to go in early November, but now I've learned that Jersey Week can be hell, and the following week includes Veteran's Day.

Are there any things like this going on aound the end of April through the beginning of May? I know there will always be groups having conventions and such, but I'm trying to avoid school vacations or huge national gatherings like the Annual National Masonic Meeting or someting huge like that.

Specifically, I'm looking at some long weekend between April 21 and May 9.

Also, May 9 is Mother's Day. Is Mother's Day weekend bad?

The time you are thinking about generally has "moderate" crowds. The Spring Break/Easter group is gone and the summer group hasn't started to arrive yet. They do usually have "Music Days" where bands come from schools around the country and often perform in the parks. They don't create a problem and actually add to the experience. The first weekend in May (and maybe the one preceeding) could be Grad Nights. MK will shut down early and there will be chaperoned teens from schools around the country in the MK with special entertainment in the wee hours of the night/morning. Many of them come in by bus just for this event and are gone again the next day. Some stay over but don't create any undue problem either.

Grad Nites for 2004 are April 23 & 24 and April 30 and May 1. They are in the MK from 11:00 p.m.-5:00 a.m.

Avoid Mother's Day weekend. I would go the last week in April/first week in May. We went May 4-10 last year and the parks were not crowded - never used fast pass and avg. wait was probably 15 minutes. We are going April 18-21...hoping Easter / Spring break crowds will have declined. Have fun.
