I've always wanted to go to it, so I'm thinking of timimg my next solo trip for it. But with all the free flowing wine in Epcot, I've heard some horror stories of less than sober people wandering around. Not the best atmosphere for a solo, I think. Anyone go then, and if so, how was it?

I did my first solo this past october, for the food and wine. It was fine, didn't notice any wandering drunks around epcot.

I went solo to the wine and food fest for the first time this past Oct too :cool1: I had a wonderful time. I attended one signature dinner, 3 wine and food pairings and PFTS as well as some of the free wine and food seminars. I never felt uncomfortable or fearful...certainly never had problems with less than sober visitors :confused3 The MNSSHP at MK was an added bonus to visiting at this time of year. Although I have loved my solo May trips in the past, I can only go once in 2006 and have already booked Oct/06 :goodvibes
Maybe I'll see you there!

Thanks so much for the responses. And from what I've heard here, katypop, it's looking like there's a good chance you will see me there. I'm thinking of calling DVC tomorrow for my October ressies-if I remember, October's a pretty busy time for DVC.

I've done quite a few of the F&W days solo, always go for a few day trips and then also have a long weekend up there. Do not be afraid to go solo, it has always been a pleasant experience for me. The only tip being.....on the weekends you will find it quite busy with a lot of locals and as a general rule I find that is also when you will see more people having a few to many. I usually go during the day time and start at lunch and also munch my dinner then head back to the room around 8 ish I have to say that I have never personally witnessed the drunkedness some have mentioned.

Good luck Simba's Mom getting what you want :)
If you end up booking the last two weeks in Oct and want to meet up at all let me know, I've enjoyed meeting other dissers my last few solo trips.

I've gone a couple of times and enjoyed it. I haven't noticed any drunk and disorderliness but I did notice the wine and food made people friendlier.

I've done it but I was less than sober myself. (Assuming "less than sober" is not the equivalent to "falling down drunk")

I've gone solo to Food & Wine - really enjoyed it. Met interesting people at the various seminars/programs. Make sure you pick up the Food & Wine schedule (usually only available at EPCOT) so you can check out the presentations. If you want to really spend money there are some ticketed dinners that are supposed to be really good

I did the Food and Wine Festival solo this year for five days in November--then two days with company. I loved being solo there. The food kiosks are particularly single-friendly. In fact, I am planning a return trip next November. And, I agree with some of the ohter comments--I noticed a lot of happy people, but no one falling down drunk into the lake.

I frequent the Wine and Food Festival solo. I don't drink but I sure do enjoy the food. I've never noticed any "problems". And while you're there, don't forget to try the cheese soup at the Canada booth - it's Mickey's favorite!

Well, sometimes solo attendees of the Food and Wine Festival find other
DIS solo attendees, right? ;) I thought I wouldn't know a soul there,
and I saw you at three events. I think the Signature dinner was the most
fun.

Even if the original poster doesn't book the events, it's really easy to go
around the food kiosks solo. Food and Wine Festival is perfect for solos, IMHO.

Well, the only time I remember seeing you "less than sober" during the
F&WF, we were consuming wine and visiting Figment. Great combination.

I was with friends this last time. It was great. Loved it.

I think the problem is - it is so crowded. Yes - epcot - world showcare - crowded. Hard to imagnation - right.

well during the food/wine it is.

I don't like to be touched.

I was touched by people who have a different cultural. these were not drunks - (believe me I know the different) - just being friendly....

alot of it is because world showcase is so darn crowded.

I was surprise by the children. If you are going drinking (and their parents were) please don't take your children.

get a in resort baby sitter or take them to one of the disney clubs.

some people were getting into the occasion and were being how to say - affection in public? I would hate to try to explain it to the kids - who were definitely wide eyed and taking everything in at the time I saw them.

also in one occasion - a man was getting the drinks - his wife (I assume) was watching the entertainment - no one was watching the kids - these were little kids and wander off.

Hi Lori :wave2:
It was a lot of fun meeting up with you and having someone to rave about the food and wine with :chat: Any chance I'll see you again in Oct?

Me too! If you're concerned, trying going around noontime. That's when I went and it wasn't too crowded and people hadn't been at it all day. Then if you want, you can spend time there later in the day, too.

Go, you'll have fun. Never know who you'll bump in to. And if you find you don't like it, go do something else!

Cheers!
