Any skyauctions for Christmas to New Years?

I probably already know the answer to this one, but I'm wondering if the dates of Christmas to New Year's ever show up on Skyauction. I'm thinking about places like CPGV or Silver Lake or even Summer Bay. I'm also wondering about bidding per night on hotels at that site, and then finding out that that week would not be available. I didn't find that time period on the RSG auctions, so I guess it's doubtful.

Has anyone ever seen this show up before?

Thanks!

Last year we won 2 back to back weeks in December (at Orange Lake)...one was a ready set go auction and the other was for any one of several Orlando resorts for multiple dates available. The RSG auction was for the week beginning Dec. 14, and the multiple auction listed the week beginning Dec. 21, and I bid on that auction as soon as I saw it because it was exactly what we wanted and I was surprised to see it there. I don't remember seeing anything for the week beginning Dec. 28, but we weren't really looking. Sorry, don't know anything about bid per night availability. Good luck!

I won't bid per night on any of the hotels on skyauction - you can probably find them cheaper elsewhere.

Skyauction uses timeshares that owners exchange.

that is a very popular time to go to Orlando - the most popular in fact.

so owners won't even put their units in the RCI exchange until they decide not to go - or can't rent it. - So look closer at the 60 day mark. (I think that the last day you can deposit??? - It might be 30 days)

also if another RCI exchangers is looking for that time and is on their wait list - they HAVE to give it to him - their contract says so.

so you can could try to rent directly from an owner (will probably cost you more).

I am pretty sure you can look at the classified ads without joining tug.

if you want to stay onsite at WDW go to the DVC rentals/trades forum on this website. - This will cost alot more - it is the most expensive time to use points at DVC resorts.

Thanks for all your responses. We decided to go ahead and head back home on the 26th. I have a 3 BR at Silver Lake Silver Points that I got for $249/week starting on the 17th. I just had to find something for the 24th and 25th, and I thought my kids would like to stay for the rest of the week, but not so. I decided to look at something on Priceline and Hotwire for Christmas Eve and Christmas. I got the Wyndam Palace and Spa for those nights for $62/night. After reading the reviews on tripadvisor, I'm already getting a little leary of staying there. I just try to take the negatives with a grain of salt.

I do have to say, I am so excited to get the week of Christmas for such a bargain at Silver Points! The 3 BR there looks huge! I just wish my dates would have extended through the 26th there, but it just didn't work out. You can't have everything..... I was amazed that this week would even show up at all for that price!

and silver lake resort silver points is the newest section of 3 bdr

the fact these weeks are showing up is probably due to "developer deposits" so we all should enjoy the opportunity as long as we can

these type of weeks may go the route of Orange Lake or HGVC which do not show up any more on skyauction

I don't understand a lot about how all of that works, but I hope these kinds of deals don't go away forever! I got my week through the govt. travel site, as my husband is a county/state employee. I'm still not believing I stumbled on such a deal! I originally had the week of Dec. 19 - 26 on hold in a 2 BR at Silver Lake, and then when I saw the 3 BR at Silver Points, I had to jump at the opportunity! I am so excited to see these new condos (or is it villas?), and I still can't believe the deal for Christmas week.

I just thought that my kids (who are 16 now) would like to stay an extra week if I could catch another deal like that for the following week on Skyauction. As for me, I'd be perfectly happy just relaxing in the condo and taking in a few sights, but they wanted to get back home and see their friends over New Year's.

I hope I didn't make a mistake by booking the Wyndham Palace on Priceline, but I think just being able to walk a few minutes over to DTD is a real plus!! I think it will be really pretty there at Christmas with all the decorations.

condos according to www.silverlake.net

supposedly they have plasma screen TV too along with some other nice features......

not all tile and mirrors like the original resort

lawgs,

My 16 y/o son is really excited about that plasma screen tv! The floor plan on the Silver Lake site is amazing! I wish I could leave a week earlier, but my kids are taking exams. I think that week would show up for rental too.

I stayed in the CPGV in the early part of Sept., and loved the place. I'm really turning into an off-site kind of girl! The bargains to be had are just mind-boggling! LOL!!!

I do still have a certain affinity for the Pop Century though. But for $30-something a night in these condos, you just can't turn that offer down!

sweet maxine- Was it through the GETO site? I found out about this a few months ago, I want to try it for next summer (hubby is a fed. employee). I'm hoping the newer resorts are still showing up then. When did you book it? Let us know how it goes, it sounds like a wonderful place to stay!

laurabelle,

Yes, it was through the GETO site, and I booked it about a week ago. I really wanted to get CPGV and was waiting for it to show up, but it didn't, so I went ahead and put a hold on the Silver Lake 2 BR. Since they allow you 24 hrs. after booking to make changes or cancel, I found the 3 BR at Silver Points the next day, and called immediately to change.

I was hoping to get the following week somewhere as well, and that's why I posed my original question. I thought it might be too risky to wait too long, and the chances for that week showing up might be slim, so I went ahead with the Priceline booking.

We stayed at the CPGV on a GETO booking in Sept., and loved the place! I'm hoping as you are that these kinds of places will still be showing up for next summer. I just discovered that site a few months ago.
